The 2027 GV70 Prestige Graphite Pays German Money
The 2027 Genesis GV70 still starts at $49,350, then Prestige Graphite hits $71,700 for a plush, thirsty V6 with no plug-in.
The 2027 Genesis GV70 Prestige Graphite starts at $71,700, before a $1,545 destination charge. Genesis still sells a 300 hp 2.5-liter turbo four that starts at $49,350 before destination, the number the brand uses against BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.
The V6 trim in the pictures sits in that German sport-crossover band anyway, and it is built to soothe, not to chase an M50 or an AMG GLC 53 down a canyon road.
Prestige Graphite Now Sits at $71,700
The 2027 GV70 has been on U.S. lots since July 2026 as a carryover with one loud change at the top. Genesis dropped the 3.5T Sport Advanced trim and added Prestige Graphite, a dark-gloss finish pack on the same twin-turbo V6. Official U.S. pricing puts Prestige Graphite at $71,700, which is $1,200 above the 3.5T Sport Prestige at $70,500.
That $1,200 does not buy more horsepower. Both 3.5T trucks make 375 hp and 391 lb-ft, send it through an 8-speed automatic, and drive all four wheels. Graphite adds red calipers, darkened exterior trim, a new carbon-fiber pattern, and Ultramarine Blue Nappa with suede inserts. The 2.5T still does the value job across four rungs, from the base truck to Sport Prestige at $61,550.
2027 GV70 GAS TRIM LADDER
| Trim | MSRP | Engine | Horsepower | EPA combined |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2.5T AWD | $49,350 | 2.5-liter turbo four | 300 hp | 22 mpg |
| 2.5T Select AWD | $52,550 | 2.5-liter turbo four | 300 hp | 22 mpg |
| 2.5T Advanced AWD | $57,050 | 2.5-liter turbo four | 300 hp | 22 mpg |
| 2.5T Sport Prestige AWD | $61,550 | 2.5-liter turbo four | 300 hp | 22 mpg |
| 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD | $70,500 | 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 | 375 hp | 21 mpg |
| 3.5T Prestige Graphite AWD | $71,700 | 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 | 375 hp | 21 mpg |
Destination is $1,545 on every row, so the base truck is $50,895 at the curb and Graphite is $73,245 before tax, options, or a dealer doc fee. The spread from the cheap Genesis to the one in the brochure is $22,350. Cross-shoppers who came in for a sub-$50,000 luxury badge leave looking at SQ5 money.
Genesis USA posted the Graphite package in July 2026 as a “distinctive experience,” which is brand-speak for paint, stitching, and calipers on a carryover powertrain.

The Twin-Turbo V6 Prefers Comfort to Canyons
The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is a sweet engine in a straight line. Peak torque arrives at 1,300 rpm, and even Comfort mode has no dead pedal when you lean on it. Sport holds gears longer and turns the exhaust up a notch. Sport+ sharpens throttle and cuts how often stability control steps in.
Electronically controlled dampers come with the V6, and Genesis says a forward camera reads the road and firms or softens the body before a bump. You cannot switch that preview off, so a tester cannot isolate how much it actually does. The ride stays composed in the sportier modes and never forgets it is a luxury compact, with steering weighted on the heavy side and a thick rim that leans into that choice.
On backroads, it feels more like an enthusiastic wagon than an SUV
Chris Davies, road test of the 2027 GV70 3.5T Prestige Graphite
That wagon feel is the point of the car, and it is also the problem at this price. The Audi SQ5 starting at $65,900 makes 362 hp and 406 lb-ft and is sold as a sport SUV. BMW’s X3 M50 xDrive starts at $66,500 with 393 hp. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 starts at $71,350 with 443 hp. Graphite costs more than the Audi and the BMW and about the same as the AMG, while Genesis still has no Magma GV70. The hotter Magma badge sits on the electric GV60, from $69,950.
How Much Fuel the 3.5T GV70 Uses
Both gas engines need premium. The EPA’s 2027 figures for the 2.5T are 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. Step to the V6 and the same sheet lists 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, 21 mpg combined.
TANK MATH ON PREMIUM
- Tank size: Both gas GV70s carry 17.4 gallons.
- 2.5T range: About 383 miles on the combined rating (17.4 gallons times 22 mpg).
- 3.5T range: About 365 miles on the combined rating (17.4 gallons times 21 mpg).
- Road-test mix: A 3.5T Prestige Graphite returned just shy of 20 mpg in mixed driving, under the highway rating and in line with the city number.
Fill that tank often enough and the V6’s charm has a weekly cost the 2.5T and the battery truck do not share. There is still no plug-in hybrid GV70 for 2027, so the shopper who wants a gasoline gurgle plus a chunk of silent commuting has to leave the showroom or wait.
250 Miles on the Electrified GV70
The 2027 Electrified GV70 starts at $58,500, which undercuts every 3.5T gas trim and even the 2.5T Sport Prestige. Dual motors make 429 hp and 516 lb-ft in normal use, with a 0-60 run Genesis puts at about five seconds. Boost mode raises output to 483 hp for 10 seconds.
EPA range is 250 miles from an 84-kWh pack, down 13 miles from the 263-mile rating on the 2026 truck. Combined efficiency is 90 MPGe (97 city, 84 highway), or 37 kWh per 100 miles. Genesis quotes a 10 to 80 percent charge in as few as 19 minutes on an 800-volt DC plug, and the port is NACS.
WHAT WE KNOW
- On sale now: The 2027 Electrified GV70 is a priced, EPA-rated battery SUV from $58,500, $66,300, and $70,650.
- Range cut: The published EPA figure is 250 miles, 13 miles below the 2026 rating.
WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED
- GV70 EREV: Hyundai Motor Group said extended-range SUVs arrive in the first half of 2027, with a Genesis model aimed at more than 640 miles of combined range; the GV70 is the name most often attached, and Genesis has not issued a U.S. GV70 EREV order guide.
- A 2027 plug-in: No PHEV GV70 is in the current U.S. price list.
Until that range-extender shows up with a window sticker, the compact Genesis is a thirsty V6, a cheaper turbo four, or a 250-mile EV. The middle of the market, where German rivals already sell plug-ins, is empty.
A 27-Inch OLED With a Blind Middle
Inside, Graphite is the playful Genesis cabin taken a step further. Nappa seats are thick and well bolstered, with a grippy suede-like center and bright contrast stitching that matches the belts. Knurled knobs for the gearbox and infotainment, a thick wheel, and damped stalks keep your hands off the glass more than they would in a screen-only German.
There is more silver plastic than metal compared with costlier Genesis models, which is the compromise at this rung. The party piece is a 27-inch OLED that spans the gauges and the infotainment, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It looks like one slab, but the wheel rim blocks the middle, and Genesis leaves that strip unused. Physical shortcuts plus volume and tuning knobs still make the system easy to jump around.
WHAT GRAPHITE ADDS ON THE 3.5T
- Red calipers: Prestige Graphite gets red brake calipers; other non-sport trucks stay silver and Sport trucks stay black.
- Cabin color: Ultramarine Blue Nappa with suede inserts is exclusive to this trim.
- Carbon pattern: A new carbon-fiber finish on the dash and console, plus darkened exterior gloss.
- Same V6: 375 hp, 391 lb-ft, 21-inch sport wheels, Bang & Olufsen audio from Advanced up, no extra output over Sport Prestige.
People talking about the 2027 truck keep circling that 27-inch panel because the engines, the eight-speed, and the basic body are carryover. Graphite is a finish, and it is a $71,700 finish.
BMW Still Beats It on Cargo and Towing
Front passengers get 41.3 inches of legroom, which beats the BMW X3 at 40.2, the Mercedes-Benz GLC at 40.7, and the Audi Q5 at 40.8. Second-row legroom is 37.2 inches, third in that group, and none of these compact luxury SUVs is a long-leg rear cabin.
Cargo is 28.9 cubic feet behind the second row and 56.9 with the seats folded. The X3 leads at 31.5 cubes up top and 67.1 max, more than ten cubes over the Genesis with the seats down. The Q5 holds 27.6. The GLC is down at 21.9. Genesis does give you a flat, wide floor with a low lip.
LOADED COMPACTS AT THE V6 PRICE
| Model | Starting MSRP | Horsepower | Max cargo (cu-ft) | Tow rating (lb) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Genesis GV70 3.5T Prestige Graphite | $71,700 | 375 | 56.9 | 3,500 |
| Audi SQ5 | $65,900 | 362 | 27.6 behind rear seats | 4,400 |
| BMW X3 M50 xDrive | $66,500 | 393 | 67.1 | 4,850 |
| Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 | $71,350 | 443 | 21.9 behind rear seats on the GLC | 3,500 |
Towing is where the Genesis gives up the most. A 3,500-pound rating matches the GLC and trails a properly optioned X3 at 4,850 pounds and a Q5 at 4,400. If the job is a small trailer or a box of bikes, the GV70 is fine. If the job is a bragging-rights hitch, BMW still has the number.
10-Year Powertrain Cover and a 3-Year Valet
The ownership kit is the quiet win once stickers meet in the $70,000s. Genesis writes a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper new-vehicle limited warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage on the engine and transmission for the original owner. Scheduled service is included for 3 years or 36,000 miles, with oil changes at those visits.
WHAT A NEW GV70 INCLUDES
- Bumper cover: 5 years or 60,000 miles on the new-vehicle limited warranty.
- Powertrain: 10 years or 100,000 miles for the original owner; later owners drop to the 5-year/60,000-mile term from in-service.
- Free service: 3 years or 36,000 miles of factory scheduled maintenance.
- Valet: A 3-year Service Valet subscription that can pick the truck up from home or work and leave a loaner.
Roadside help runs 5 years with no mileage cap, and rust-through cover is 7 years with unlimited miles. German basic warranties in this class still cluster around 4 years and 50,000 miles. The 2026 GV70 also carries a 5-star NHTSA overall rating and an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ badge, which Genesis still posts on the 2027 product page.
Set the brand bias down and the GV70 is a genuine luxury compact: quiet, padded, and easy to live with, with a 300 hp four that still undercuts the Germans and a V6 that makes the cabin feel expensive. Pay Graphite money and you are no longer buying the cheap Genesis. You are buying a 375 hp comfort wagon that uses premium at 18/25 mpg, tows 3,500 pounds, and asks you to wait for the plug-in that is not on the 2027 window sticker.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Does a 2027 Genesis GV70 Cost With Destination?
Add the $1,545 destination fee and the 2.5T AWD is $50,895, while Prestige Graphite is $73,245, before tax, title, options, or dealer fees; Genesis lists six gas trims, and the 2027 truck has been offered in the United States since July 2026.
What Warranty Transfers If You Buy a Used GV70?
A later owner keeps bumper-to-bumper coverage only through 5 years or 60,000 miles from the original in-service date, and the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain term does not fully transfer; anti-perforation cover is 7 years with unlimited miles, and roadside assistance is 5 years with unlimited miles.
Does the 2027 GV70 Come as a Hybrid?
No 2027 GV70 trim is a conventional hybrid or a plug-in hybrid; the U.S. range is gasoline 2.5T and 3.5T plus the battery-electric Electrified GV70, and any extended-range version is still a future product without a published U.S. MSRP.
How Fast Can the Electrified GV70 Charge?
Genesis says an 800-volt DC ultra-fast charger drawing up to 350 kW can take the 84-kWh pack from 10 to 80 percent in as few as 19 minutes, and the truck uses a heated NACS port; Boost mode is a separate performance feature that raises output from 429 hp to 483 hp for 10 seconds.
Is the 2027 GV70 a Top Safety Pick?
Genesis still advertises the GV70 as a 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and as a 5-star overall NHTSA vehicle, and the 2027 truck’s listed safety kit includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Highway Driving Assist 2, and 8 airbags with a front center bag.
