Palworld 1.0.4 Adds Palpedia Search After the 1.0 Launch

Palworld v1.0.4 adds two sub-missions, then finishes 1.0 chores: Palpedia name search, World Tree fishing tweaks, and Xbox One memory cuts.

Pocketpair shipped Palworld v1.0.4 on September 7 with two sub-missions and a Palpedia name search. Version 1.0 left Early Access on July 10 with 287 Pals. Steam tagged 1.0.4 a Small Update. The notes read like leftover 1.0 work: catalog search, fishing sliders, and Xbox One memory cuts.

The missions give the patch a story hook. The rest of the list is the collecting game still catching up to its own Paldeck, 59 days after the full launch.

Palworld 1.0.4 Adds a Palpedia Name Search

Pocketpair’s notes put name search to the Palpedia in the UI block, not in the mission headline. You can type a Pal’s name instead of scrolling a list that 1.0 swelled to 287 entries. The same pass adds Work Suitability detail text on the Pal status screen and in the Palpedia.

That is basic catalog work for a game about catching, breeding, and assigning Pals. Version 1.0 already asked players to learn new species, variants, mutations, and Awakening gems. It did not ship a search field on the book that tracks them.

The official Palworld account posted the full 1.0.4 list on September 7.

The search still stops at the Palpedia. The Palbox, the condenser, and the technology list remain scroll-only, so the new field solves one index and makes the others look unfinished. Bounty Token popups now show passive effects and item text, which is the same kind of late labeling.

Two Sub-Missions Start at Fisherman’s Point

The content Pocketpair led with is a two-part chain. Beyond Dimensions is accepted from an NPC at Fisherman’s Point in Mount Obsidian. From the Far Side of the Moon opens only after that mission is cleared.

They are sub-missions, not a new island and not a new Pal drop. Players who already finished the 1.0 story still have to go back to a fishing village on the volcano to pick up the thread. Mission-target Pals and NPCs will no longer fall asleep, which had been a way those fights could stall.

The Echoing Flute, the item tied to Panthalus and the World Tree path, can now be dropped from the inventory. That sits in the item block rather than the mission block, and it is the kind of stuck-item fix 1.0 still needed.

The World Tree Fishing Route Gets New Rules

Fishing is where 1.0.4 spends real design time. Pocketpair adjusted difficulty at spots in Sunreach and the World Tree, then adjusted how many items each bait type yields on a successful catch. The notes do not say whether those spots got easier or harder, or whether bait yields went up or down.

Sunreach already sat at Master rank, roughly player levels 64 to 69. The World Tree sits at Grandmaster, levels 71 to 79. Those Grandmaster spots around the World Tree are the late-game loop, which is why a retune there hits schematic and gem farmers harder than a new chat at Fisherman’s Point.

THE FISHING PASS IN 1.0.4

Change Where it lands
Difficulty adjustment Sunreach and World Tree spots
Item yield per bait Every bait type
Control guides, warnings, recommended gear On screen during the minigame
Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames World Settings

Simple Bait still has no bonus. High Quality Bait speeds bites. Deluxe Bait widens the capture bar. Alluring Bait widens the bar and already boosted item gains, so a yield pass on every bait type is a loot table edit, not a tutorial.

Control Guides and a World Setting

The patch adds and retunes control guides, warning displays, and recommended equipment prompts while you fish. World Settings now include Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames, so a host can change how hard the fish fight without a separate mod.

Version 1.0 already sold a fishing party: Jelliette for extra items, Gloopie to make the minigame fail less often, Whalaska for a bigger starting gauge, Solmora for better talent on hooked Pals. A behavior slider sits on top of that build. It is a concession that the Grandmaster spots were tuning problems, not just player skill checks.

Bait Yields Without a Direction

Because Pocketpair did not publish the old and new yield numbers, anyone running World Tree loops has to test bait again. A fishing-spot crash after the spot despawns is also fixed, as is a reward panel that could show the same item in more than one slot. Volcanic spots that could hook the wrong Pals were cleaned up too.

August’s 1.0.3 patch had already stuffed World Tree Holy Water into World Tree fishing rewards, expeditions, and the Large Fishing Pond, and it cut that item’s weight from 1 to 0.1. September’s patch then retunes the same waters. The endgame fishing route is still being rebuilt in public.

Xbox One and PS5 Still Get Memory Cuts

The performance block is the other tell. Pocketpair reduced memory use on Xbox One, reduced memory use during co-op on PS5, cut some rendering, foliage, and effect load, reduced stutter when some passives fire, and lightened field rendering in the World Tree and other areas. Xbox One has been a Palworld platform since January 19, 2024. It is still getting RAM work in a 1.0.4 small update.

STABILITY WORK IN 1.0.4

  • Xbox One: Memory use is reduced on the original Xbox hardware.
  • PS5 co-op: Memory use is reduced when playing together on the host console.
  • PC frame cap: The default FPS cap is now 120.
  • World Tree draw: Field rendering load is reduced in that area and in other heavy zones.

PS5 also gets chat from the Radial Menu, after the on-screen keyboard failed to appear from that menu on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Wild Pals in the World Tree could freeze in place on those consoles; that is fixed. Version mismatch errors now show the other player’s build, which is dedicated-server hygiene.

PC players get the frame-cap change and a Steam-side fix for deleting mod files. Mac builds no longer show MODUSE when no mods are loaded. The split is clear: one platform gets 120 FPS by default, another still needs a memory diet so 1.0’s World Tree can run.

Pocketpair Has Shipped Four Patches Since 1.0

The 1.0 launch was the opposite of small. Pocketpair’s changelog said the game added 72 new Pals and a 287 roster, then opened Sunreach and the World Tree, raised the level cap from 65 to 80, and reworked more than 200 Partner Skills. The studio said more than 40 million players had played during 2.5 years of Early Access.

Palworld 1.0 adds 72 new Pals to the world, bringing the total number of Pals up to an incredible 287!

That cinematic sold a finished Palpagos. The numbered patches that followed did not take a break.

THE POST-1.0 PATCH CALENDAR

  1. July 10, 2026: Version 1.0 leaves Early Access with Sunreach, the World Tree, and 287 Pals.
  2. July 15, 2026: Version 1.0.1 fixes save data that could be discarded after some actions.
  3. July 29, 2026: Version 1.0.2 starts a stability pass; a July 30 hotfix clears an infinite load after the World Tree boss.
  4. August 12, 2026: Version 1.0.3 cuts Holy Water weight, doubles fiber from trees, and fixes an Xbox One crash near World Tree field bosses.
  5. September 7, 2026: Version 1.0.4 adds the two sub-missions, Palpedia search, fishing sliders, and more memory cuts.

August’s notes also dropped some Jetragon tech from level 79 to 70 and moved the Aquatic Construction Kit from level 66 to 23, with Ancient Technology Points cut from 4 to 1. Those are 1.0 unlocks being walked back because they sat too high. September then teaches the Palpedia to search. The full release is still being edited.

What 1.0.4 Changes for Bases and Combat

Summoned Pals and base Pals now prefer skills expected to deal more damage, and charging skills at the base got a behavior pass. Power Bomb’s minimum use distance changed so Pals stop chain-backstepping before they fire. Core Eject on the Core Eject Shotgun had its damage adjusted, again without a published number.

Lucky’s defense bonus was not applying; it does now. Killamari Primo’s Partner Skill levels 2 and 3 had their effects reversed. Mercy Hit failed on attacks from a ridden Pal. Grintale’s extra mutated eggs ignored mutated stats. Idiosyncratic mutation did not fire. Those are 1.0 breeding and combat systems that were still wrong in September.

BASE AND WORLD FIXES THAT STICK

  • Campfires: Players, summoned Pals, and base Pals no longer catch fire on player-built campfires.
  • Cancel refunds: Materials from canceled production return to the inventory instead of dumping on the ground.
  • Weight cap: If auto-pickup over the weight limit is off, only the overweight refund drops at your feet.
  • Server caps: Admins can set a per-player building limit, and extra no-build zones wrap Suzaku, a desert mission cave, and some Sakurajima mission sites.
  • Radiant Gems: Wild World Tree drops no longer mismatch or skew elements, which had been wrecking Awakening farms.
  • Panthalus: Body collision now matches the model, and beating it early no longer hides the World Tree Guardian later in the main mission.

Co-op had a guild-join bug for arriving clients and a host-mission skip if a client walked into a progress volume. Arena targeting failed on the opponent’s Pal, and revived Pals there could refuse to keep fighting. Dedicated servers could leave the crafting UI stuck on screen, and a sleeping Galeclaw could fall through the world if you hit it.

Shop sales of stacked items could price the pile wrong. Map filters could draw a black square on the edge. A Watchtower that had already been unlocked but left fog on the map will now clear that fog if you use it again. That is not a new region. It is 1.0 failing in small, repeated ways.

Lapure’s swim speed was adjusted. Ancient Bark now gathers at Work Suitability level 1. Homing from Lunaris Effigies was retuned. Pal Critics changed their homework: Sakurajima wants Dogen instead of Selyne, and Sunreach wants Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor. The Paldeck got a search bar. The assignment lists did not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Drop the Echoing Flute After Palworld 1.0.4?

Yes. Version 1.0.4 lets the Echoing Flute be dropped from the inventory, so the Panthalus summon item is no longer glued to a full bag if you need the slot.

Which Pals Do the Pal Critics Want in Palworld 1.0.4?

The Sakurajima Pal Critic now asks for Dogen instead of Selyne, and the Sunreach Pal Critic now asks for Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor, so old turn-in routes on those islands are stale.

Did Palworld 1.0.4 Change Ancient Bark Gathering?

Yes. The Work Suitability level required to gather Ancient Bark is now Lv. 1, which opens that World Tree material to a much wider set of base workers than the previous rank gate.

What Watchtower Map Bug Does Palworld 1.0.4 Fix?

If the map around an unlocked Watchtower is still fogged, using that same Watchtower again now reveals the missing terrain, so a fast-travel point that failed on first use can be replayed instead of abandoned.

Pocketpair closed the 1.0.4 notes the same way it closes most of them: thank you for the continued support. The Palpedia can finally be searched by name. The Palbox still cannot.
