Chrysler Bets a Cheaper Pacifica Can Skip a Full Redesign

Stellantis cut 2027 Chrysler Pacifica prices and killed the plug-in, betting a new grille and Stow n Go can hold the U.S. minivan sales lead.

Stellantis cut 2027 Chrysler Pacifica prices by as much as $2,060 and killed the hybrid, betting a new grille can hold the minivan crown. The van is still Chrysler’s only passenger model. It is also still the one American families keep buying.

The face is new on most trims. The floor bins, the V6, and the decade-old bones are not. That is the wager, and the sales chart is already scoring it.

Chrysler Cut Prices After the New York Reveal

Orders opened on March 9, 2026. The van showed at the New York International Auto Show on April 1. On May 5, with metal already rolling toward stores, Chrysler CEO Matt McAlear announced lower prices on Select and Limited trims. All figures below exclude the $1,995 destination charge.

2027 PACIFICA MSRP AFTER THE MAY CUT

Trim FWD AWD Cut from first 2027 sticker
LX $41,495 n/a none
Select $43,545 $46,540 $1,000 / $1,350
Limited $47,995 $50,990 $1,710 / $2,060
Pinnacle $54,910 $57,905 none / $350

All-wheel drive is $2,995 on Select, Limited, and Pinnacle. The Limited with the Safety Sphere pack is Chrysler’s value centerpiece: the company says that pairing is worth more than $3,000 against the outgoing van. Safety Sphere itself fell from $1,715 to $395.

This new lower pricing strategy is just the start as we continue to find ways to make it easier for customers to make the Pacifica a trusted member of their families.

Matt McAlear, Chrysler CEO, Auburn Hills statement, May 5, 2026

The LX is the old Voyager with a Pacifica badge, and it does not get the new nose. A Hydro Blue Pinnacle with all-wheel drive, destination, and $495 of paint landed on a tester at $60,395. That is the top of the bet, not the heart of it.

The New Face Stops at the Front Doors

Chrysler calls the new front the blueprint for the next generation of its vehicles. On the street, the blueprint is a fascia. Select, Limited, and Pinnacle get vertical LED headlamps, an illuminated wing badge, and the “piano key” grille lights. Chrysler says the new projectors improve low beam by 20% and high beam by 25%. The LX skips all of that and even skips the 2021 nose.

WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGED FOR 2027

  • Front clip: New lamps, lit badge, and piano-key grille on Select and above; LX keeps the old look.
  • Rear tell: A thinner wing badge on the liftgate is the cleanest way to spot a 2027 from behind.
  • Cabin cue: The same badge sits on the steering wheel, the one interior change every buyer gets.
  • Pinnacle color: Blue Agave Nappa leather is standard on the top trim, with copper stitching and a parquet perforation.
  • Liftgate: A height-adjustable power tailgate is now standard, so the door can stop short of a low garage.
  • Safety pack: Turn-signal blind-spot cameras and ParkSense camera kick-in join the 360-degree view.
  • Tech split: Theater Group and Family Tech Group are sold apart, so screens are no longer bundled with extra USB ports.

Olive Green is the new paint that dealers keep photographing, because a minivan in that color looks less like a school-run appliance. Inside, the 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 screen, the knobs, and the analog gauges all carry over. Blind-spot camera views land on the touchscreen, not in the cluster, because there is still no digital dial set. The graphics look old. The buttons still work with a glove on.

Pacifica Still Leads a Four-Van Market

Chrysler spent 2025 as a one-van brand, then spent 2026 proving the van was enough. GoodCarBadCar’s tracker shows 97,999 U.S. sales through September, up 26.5% from 77,459 in the same months of 2025. Full-year 2025 closed at 109,101. The nameplate record remains 120,665 in 2023.

U.S. MINIVAN SALES, JANUARY TO SEPTEMBER 2026

Model Units Vs. 2025
Chrysler Pacifica 97,999 +26.5%
Toyota Sienna 84,770 +11.7%
Honda Odyssey 65,986 -7.0%
Kia Carnival 61,540 +20.2%

The four vans totaled 310,295 sales, up 12.6%. Pacifica held 31.8% of the segment in the third quarter, when it moved 34,491 units. That quarter was up 27.2% from 27,124 a year earlier and down 17.3% from 41,704 in the second quarter. The monthly tell sits earlier: March delivered 7,460 vans, then April jumped to 14,082 after orders opened and the New York reveal. May and June stayed in that 13,540 to 14,082 band.

McAlear, at the show, put a century of inventory behind the spike. Chrysler, he said, invented the minivan 43 years ago and has sold more than 16.6 million Chrysler minivans, including more than 1.15 million Pacificas. The 2027 truck is still built at Windsor Assembly. The brand around it is a sign over one product.

Why Chrysler Dropped the Plug-In Hybrid

The quieter half of the wager is what is missing. Stellantis ended North American plug-in hybrid programs for the 2026 model year, taking the Pacifica Hybrid with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. The company said customer demand had shifted, and that it would put money into regular hybrids and range-extended vehicles instead. No such hybrid is in this Pacifica.

Stellantis will phase out plug-in hybrid programs in North America beginning with the 2026 model year, and focus on more competitive electrified solutions, including hybrid and range-extended vehicles.

Stellantis, North America product statement, January 2026

HOW THE HYBRID EXIT LINED UP

  1. January 2026: Stellantis confirms the PHEV phase-out; the Pacifica Hybrid is included.
  2. March 9, 2026: Orders open for a gas-only 2027 Pacifica lineup.
  3. April 1, 2026: The refreshed van debuts in New York with one V6.
  4. May 5, 2026: Price cuts land as the first 2027 vans ship.
  5. June 2026: Chrysler recalls 17,277 of the 2020-2022 hybrids after four battery fires and tells owners to park outside and stop charging.

The gone van was the only plug-in minivan sold in the United States. It used the Pentastar with two motors and a 16 kWh pack, was rated at 32 miles of electric range and 30 mpg combined in hybrid mode, and made 260 hp, 27 hp less than the gas model. It never offered Stow ’n Go or all-wheel drive. Recalls followed it for years, and leftover 2026 plug-ins have sat on lots for thousands under sticker. The gas 2027 is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 22 combined with front-wheel drive, or 17/25/20 with all-wheel drive. A suburban test loop on the AWD Pinnacle returned 17.1 mpg, because the nine-speed would not hold its tallest gears in that traffic. Stop-start saved fuel and starved the air conditioning on humid nights, a problem the hybrid’s battery would have covered.

Wedding Guests, Luggage and a Vacuum

The reason the bet can work is that the 2017 design still does minivan work better than the crossovers that replaced it in driveways. Ride quality is soft without the old American float. Steering is not sharp, and it does not need to be. Body control on a tall van is the trick, and this one takes a corner without making the third row sick. The 3.6-liter Pentastar still makes 287 hp and 262 lb-ft through the nine-speed, with a rawer exhaust note than a turbo four, plus active noise cancelling so you can talk to the back. Front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is the extra $2,995. Towing is rated at 3,600 pounds.

Sliding doors and a car-like step-in beat a tall SUV bumper at a hotel curb. Second-row Stow ’n Go seats drop into the floor; the third row does too. Chrysler still sells up to 140.5 cubic feet of cargo with those seats stowed, a figure no Carnival-style “MPV” has copied in both rows. The system arrived for 2005, and Chrysler says more than 5 million of its minivans have used it. Pinnacle trades the second-row floor bins for heavier captain’s chairs and the Ultra Console, so those seats slide forward instead of vanishing, and third-row access still works. Higher trims fold the third row with a button. A built-in vacuum remains on the options list.

The test Pinnacle moved a two-foot disco ball and ran airport-to-hotel shuttles for a family wedding. With the third row up, two weeks of bags for three people still fit in the well those seats fold into. You do not have to throw luggage over a high bumper. That is the job most three-row SUV ads pretend to sell, and it is the job this shape was drawn for.

How the 2027 Pacifica Stacks Up on Cost and Fuel

The price cut is how Chrysler answers a Carnival that undercuts it and a Sienna that sips fuel. Kia’s 2027 Carnival LX starts at $37,490 before destination. Honda’s Odyssey now opens at the EX-L, at $43,195. Toyota’s 2026 Sienna LE, a hybrid in every trim, starts at $41,320. Pacifica’s $41,495 LX undercuts the Odyssey and sits next to the Sienna, but that LX is the van with the old face. The new nose begins at $43,545 on Select.

THE FUEL MATH THE GRILLE DOES NOT FIX

  • Pacifica FWD: 22 mpg combined (19 city, 28 highway).
  • Pacifica AWD: 20 mpg combined (17 city, 25 highway).
  • Sienna hybrid: 36 mpg combined, the number Chrysler no longer has an answer for.
  • Odyssey: 22 mpg combined, the same neighborhood as the gas Pacifica.

On a lot, Olive Green and the lit badge are what get the phone out. On a 400-mile week, the missing plug-in is what the trip computer reports. Toyota and Kia kept hybrid vans in the fight. Chrysler kept Stow ’n Go, the V6, and a lower Limited sticker, and it is still taking the volume. That can hold until someone in Auburn Hills has to replace this floor, or until the Sienna’s 36 mpg becomes the default family math. For now the Windsor line is building a new nose on a van America already knows, and September’s 12,132 deliveries say the bet is still money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the 2027 Pacifica LX Get the New Headlights?

No. The LX keeps the older front end, including the look the Voyager wore, and it is front-wheel drive only. It still gets power sliding doors, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel, plus the same 287 hp V6 and Uconnect 5 system as the rest of the range, which is why Chrysler can hang a $41,495 opener on a badge people trust more than Voyager.

Can You Still Buy a Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid?

Not as a 2027. Stellantis ended the Pacifica Hybrid with the 2026 model year, and only leftover 2026 plug-ins remain at dealers. Those vans were rated at 82 MPGe in electric-plus-gas use and about 520 miles of total range, and they cannot be ordered with second-row Stow ’n Go or all-wheel drive.

How Many People Does the 2027 Pacifica Seat?

Seven is standard across the lineup. Eight-passenger seating is available on Select, using a second-row bench that still folds into the floor. Pinnacle is a seven-seater with captain’s chairs and cannot hide those second-row seats in the bins.

What Does the Safety Sphere Package Include?

On Limited it is a $395 add-on, and it is standard on Pinnacle. The pack now includes a 360-degree camera, front and rear park assist with stop, a turn-signal-activated blind-spot camera view on the center screen, and ParkSense-based camera activation that brings up the matching camera when the sensors see an object at low speed.

Is All-Wheel Drive Available With Stow ’n Go Seats?

Yes, on Select and Limited, which is still unique in the class. Pinnacle can be ordered with all-wheel drive, but its second-row chairs are removable rather than in-floor, so the AWD-plus-Stow-’n-Go pairing stops at Limited.
