Yellow Token Hits $0.18 After an XRP Settlement Teaser

YELLOW hit $0.1798 on an XRP pairing teaser, then traded at $0.1535, with only 3.2% of tokens circulating and XRP near $1.32.

YELLOW jumped to an all-time high of $0.1798 on October 22 after Yellow Network named XRP as a settlement pair, then traded near $0.1535. CoinMarketCap showed the token up 55.51% over 24 hours, with XRP near $1.32.

The post that moved the chart did not ship a product, name a launch date, or say agents must pay in XRP. It still re-priced a token with 3.2% of supply in circulation.

The Teaser That Did the Pricing

On October 20, Yellow’s official account greeted @XRP and said it had saved an open channel. The next morning it went further, pairing its off-chain rails with the ledger that XRP holders already treat as a settlement home.

The copy was short. “Pairing Yellow’s zero-gas execution with @XRP settlement creates the ultimate high-speed stack,” the account wrote, then closed with “We are just getting started.” Burak Cem, Yellow’s head of growth, added that something was brewing and told readers to “Stay on the @Yellow brick road.”

That was enough. Traders treated a handshake emoji as a listing, a bridge, and a mandate to buy the small token sitting next to Larsen’s name. Yellow did not publish a spec, a mainnet address for an XRP settlement contract, or a date when two AI agents could complete a paid job on that stack.

THE XRP TEASER CALENDAR

  1. October 20, 2026: Yellow posts “hello, @XRP” and says it saved an open channel.
  2. October 21, 2026: Yellow calls XRP settlement plus its zero-gas channels the high-speed stack; Cem hints at more.
  3. October 22, 2026: YELLOW prints an all-time high of $0.1798 on CoinMarketCap.
  4. October 23, 2026: The token trades near $0.1535, still well above the $0.03 area from earlier in the week.

XRP army accounts filled the gap the post left open, drawing yellow-brick-road maps and a $20 trillion corridor around a two-line teaser. The louder the mapping got, the less anyone needed a shipped interface.

What the Nitrolite Channels Settle

Yellow is a Layer 3 clearing network built by Layer3 Fintech Ltd. It is not a new base chain. Independent operators run Nitronode software, and users swap signed states off-chain so they can high-frequency asset updates off-chain while the latest mutually signed state stays enforceable on a chain.

Nitrolite, the state-channel protocol, is the machine under the AI-agent slogan. A user opens a home channel for an asset, locks funds in a ChannelHub contract, then transacts with a node by exchanging signed versions. Any party can later push the latest signed state on-chain if someone stops cooperating.

HOW A NITROLITE CHANNEL MOVES

  • Lock: The user deposits into a home channel and the hub holds the assets for that channel.
  • Update: The user and a Nitronode exchange signed states for transfers, app sessions, and other v1 steps, with no gas per update.
  • Enforce: Either side can checkpoint, challenge, or close by submitting the latest signed state to the chain.

Public builder docs still flag cross-chain escrow withdrawals as not ready for an app workflow. The protocol describes those paths. The product surface does not yet walk a developer through them. Yellow’s own supported-asset tables list XRP on Flare and on XRPL EVM as something a channel can hold, which is a listing, not a live agent checkout.

Alexis Sirkia, who chairs Yellow, said at XRP Tokyo that agents could transact without trusting each other and that “we think XRP is the perfect institutional settlement layer.” That line is months old. This week’s posts still have not turned it into a dated rollout.

Only 3.2% of Supply Is Loose

The tape makes more sense once the float is in view. CoinMarketCap put circulating supply at 319.93 million YELLOW against a fixed supply of 10 billion tokens. That is 3.2% in the market. Fully diluted value at $0.1535 is $1.53 billion, against a $49.11 million market cap.

YELLOW TOKEN SNAPSHOT

Metric Figure
Circulating supply 319.93 million
Maximum supply 10 billion
Share in circulation 3.2%
Market cap $49.11 million
Fully diluted value $1.53 billion
24-hour volume $1.33 million
Holders 3,050
24-hour range $0.07536 to $0.1798

A session that runs from $0.07536 to $0.1798 on $1.33 million of volume is a thin book, not a deep bid. About 3,050 holders sit under that cap. The Ethereum contract deployed in March minted the full 10 billion to a treasury, with no mint or burn function after that.

The most recent public sale priced tokens at $0.011 and closed on August 25, 2025. Secondary trading started on March 8, 2026. At $0.1535, YELLOW changes hands at 14 times that sale price, on a slice of supply small enough that a two-day story can still set the print.

Larsen Wrote the Check for Trading Rails

Ripple co-founder and executive chairman Chris Larsen led a $10 million seed round on September 17, 2024. Yellow’s whitepaper still lists him as an advisor. The announcement was about brokers, latency, and fragmented crypto books.

I’m proud to support Yellow Network as it tackles liquidity fragmentation in crypto trading and sets new standards for the rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystem. Yellow Network’s protocol is essential for the new players entering the space, and its ability to deliver fast trade execution and capital efficiency is a game-changer for high-speed trading firms.

Chris Larsen, Ripple co-founder, Yellow seed announcement

Louis Bellet, Yellow’s cofounder and chief architect, called Larsen’s backing “an incredible validation of our efforts.” Consensys, GSR, NxGen, MV Global, Gate Labs, ZBS Capital, Moonrock Capital, Math, Cobo, NOIA Capital, and LD Capital sat in the same round. Yellow put the post-money mark above $200 million at the time.

The 2024 product was a chain-agnostic clearer for digital-asset trading, built on state channels, with a planned XRPL EVM hook. The 2026 bio on the same official account calls Yellow “the trust and settlement layer for AI agent commerce.” Same channels. New customer. The token still responds to the old surname on the cap table.

The $8 Million Seed Refund

Most of that seed did not stay. In late March 2026, Sirkia said Yellow would refund 80% of the initial raise so the network would be “owned, operated, and rewarded by the people who build on Yellow, who use Yellow, and who want Yellow to thrive.” Yellow’s newsroom said the project returned more than $8 million and kept only a small group it called aligned, including names later cited such as Coinsilium and Republic syndicates.

Capital always comes at a cost, typically at the expense of relationships with the community of token holders. We refuse to let that happen at Yellow.

Alexis Sirkia, Yellow chairman, public statement on the refund

He pointed at early selling and hedging by venture desks as the habit he wanted off the book. The whitepaper now splits the 10 billion as 10% founders (six-month cliff, 60-month linear vest), 12.5% token sales, 30% community treasury, 20% foundation treasury, 25% network growth incentives, and 2.5% for exchange access. Holders get service access, not equity, votes, or a claim on Layer3 Fintech Ltd.

The refund is why a Larsen headline this week is a memory of a check, not proof that Ripple’s treasury is on the other side of the order book. The surname still clears. The seed round, as cash, mostly went home.

Why XRP Missed the Same Rally

If the teaser had been a live XRP sink, the ledger’s own token would have been the clean expression. It was not. XRP sat near $1.32 while YELLOW did the entire move. Network fees, in Yellow’s own paper, are paid in YELLOW, with an optional conversion from other assets so the protocol can still consume its token.

Off-chain netting is the other leak in the XRP bid. Channels can update all day, then push one signed remainder on-chain. That is useful for speed. It is also close to an end-of-day clear, where the settlement asset moves when balances are netted, not when every agent ping fires. A Korean-language reply on the pairing thread made that point in plainer words: lock funds, message the delta, settle once.

Ripple already has other agent-payment work on XRPL, including an AI starter kit that talks to the x402 pay-in-the-request standard and can take XRP or Ripple USD. Yellow’s October 21 post did not say how its channels would sit next to that kit, or whether an agent would spend XRP, RLUSD, or YELLOW when the bill came due. The gap is why the small ERC-20 could run and the large settlement asset could sit.

WHAT WE KNOW

  • The posts: Yellow named XRP settlement beside its zero-gas channels on October 20 and 21.
  • The tape: YELLOW’s high was $0.1798 on October 22, with 3.2% of supply circulating.
  • The fee token: Yellow’s whitepaper says service fees are consumed in YELLOW.
  • The backer: Larsen led the $10 million 2024 seed and remains listed as an advisor.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

  • A launch date: No public day has been set for production AI-to-AI flows on an XRP stack.
  • The paying asset: The posts did not say agents must spend XRP, RLUSD, or YELLOW.
  • Mainnet clearing: The whitepaper’s 2026 outlook put a public clearing-network release in the third quarter; AppLayer and Clearnet were still described as testnet-accessible at filing.

Layer3 listed 33 full-time staff and more than 500 independent builder projects on the protocol. That is a real SDK footprint. It is not the same thing as two unnamed agents completing a paid task, with XRP as the required final asset, on a date anyone can circle.

Service Fees Still Consume YELLOW Tokens

YELLOW is a utility token under the paper’s MiCA classification. It is the access key for brokers, nodes, the SDK, AppRegistry, premium rate limits, and dispute handling. Node operators post it as a security deposit, and the protocol is written so posted collateral is supposed to exceed value at risk, with slashing if a node fails its job.

WHAT YELLOW TOKENS ARE FOR

  • Access: Brokers, nodes, and apps spend or lock YELLOW to use the network’s tools.
  • Fees: Each protocol operation consumes YELLOW; other coins can be converted first.
  • Collateral: Operators post YELLOW against the books they help clear.
  • Disputes: Adjudication is listed as a paid network service, not a free public good.

That design is why a teaser about XRP can still land in YELLOW. If agents ever crowd these channels, the token the protocol burns for access is the one with 3.2% loose, 3,050 holders, and a $1.53 billion fully diluted tag. XRP would matter when netted balances actually settle there, in size, on a schedule Yellow has not posted.

Cem told readers to stay on the Yellow brick road. The road, on October 23, is still an open channel Yellow says it saved, a high of $0.1798 already in the books, and a fee token that moved when the settlement asset did not.
