Sunseeker Puts Wire-Free Mowers on the Dealer Floor
Sunseeker Elite is asking U.S. mower dealers at Equip Expo to stock wire-free robots that renew mapping for $49 a year.
Sunseeker Elite is selling wire-free robot mowers to U.S. dealers at Equip Expo 2026, and the maps those machines follow renew for $49 a year. The X8 Plus, the show’s headline robot, is on the Louisville floor and missing from the U.S. shop.
Equip opened its dealer preview on Oct. 21 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Sunseeker is at indoor booth 1190 and outdoor demo 7460D through Oct. 23.
Dealers Get the First Look on the Louisville Floor
Equip is not a consumer gadget fair. The show’s own exhibitor pitch says 80 percent of attendees influence purchases, and it puts more than 30,000 landscape contractors, outdoor-power dealers, and suppliers in the hall from all 50 states.
The floor holds 1,100-plus exhibits and a 30-acre outdoor demo yard. That is the crowd Sunseeker came to convert. The brand’s Expo page sends visitors from a 30-by-60-foot indoor stand to a 50-by-60-foot outdoor plot with a simulated grass slope, then to a partner form for dealers.
EQUIP EXPO IN BRIEF
- Show window: Oct. 20 to 23, 2026, with the trade floor open Oct. 21 to 23 after a Churchill Downs reception on Oct. 20.
- Dealer hours: Early access in the North and South Wings on Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.
- Sunseeker spots: Indoor booth 1190 for the static line and a vision exhibit; outdoor 7460D for slope runs and a baseball pitching game.
- The ask: The Expo page closes on a dealer line, “Partner with Sunseeker and bring green technology to your customers.”
Homeowners are the end users. The people with badges this week are the ones who still sell walk-behinds, zero-turns, and the weekend edge-trim visit that a zero-inch robot is supposed to erase.
Sunseeker’s own booth page lists the indoor booth 1190 and outdoor slope demo, plus an interactive zone that plays live camera feeds so a dealer can see a lawn the way the robot does. The company posted the same invite from its official account before the floor opened.
What the U.S. Site Sells Right Now
The U.S. shop is already live, and it is narrower than the Expo script. It lists six priced robots. It does not list the X8 Plus. It also still carries older X7 and X5 pages beside the Gen 2 models, which is how a dealer walking the booth can get ahead of the website.
THE U.S. PRICE CARD
| Model | U.S. price | Lawn rating | Map service |
|---|---|---|---|
| X4 | $1,399 | Compact LiDAR model | Onboard 3D LiDAR, no antenna |
| X5 Gen 2 | $1,999 | 0.5 acre | 24 months of nRTK included |
| X7 Gen 2 | $2,499 | 0.75 acre | 24- or 60-month NetRTK+4G plan |
| X7 Plus Gen 2 | $2,999 | 1.5 acres | 24- or 60-month NetRTK+4G plan |
| X9 | $5,899 | 3 acres per 48 hours | 5 years of nRTK standard |
| X9 Plus | $6,999 | 6 acres per 48 hours | 5 years of nRTK standard |
| X8 Plus | Not listed | Large residential, per the Oct. 13 release | nRTK, no U.S. term posted |
The Gen 2 residential pair is the volume bet. The X7 Gen 2 and X7 Plus Gen 2 share a 10 TOPS chip, Vision AI 2.0 that the spec sheet says can pick out trampolines and swings, tri-wheel all-wheel drive, and a 70 percent grade (35 degrees). Cutting height runs from 0.8 to 4.0 inches on a 14-inch dual disc with six blades. Noise is listed at 60 dB(A).
The X9 pair is the commercial pitch: 90 percent grade (42 degrees), a 43 cm dual disc (about 17 inches), all-wheel drive, and fleet tools. The Plus pack adds a faster charger; Sunseeker has described a 20-minute flash charge against 50 minutes on the base X9. Those are the machines a dealer can order. The celebrity of the booth is not among them.
The Free Map Runs on a $49 Renewal
Wire-free here does not mean bill-free. AONavi 2.0 locks the mower to network RTK over 4G and fills gaps with VSLAM 2.0 cameras, so a dealer does not bury a perimeter cable or plant a yard antenna. The satellite fix still rides on a cellular plan.
A 24-month or 60-month NetRTK+ 4G subscription is included in the purchase price. After the initial period, the renewal price is $49/year. Continued use requires an active subscription.
Sunseeker Elite, U.S. product page for the X7 Gen 2
That notice sits on the same page that prices the X7 pair. After the included term, mapping is $49 a year after the free term, and the company says the robot needs an active plan to keep working. The X9 series posts five years of nRTK and anti-theft as standard. The X4 stays off that meter because it maps with 360-degree 3D LiDAR and Vision AI instead of network RTK.
Buried wire was a one-time labor job, and a broken loop could park a mower until someone found the cut. A $49 plan is cheaper than a trenching weekend. It is also a recurring SKU, a support call, and a reason a robot stops if the owner lets the plan lapse. Dealers who once billed for wire installs are being asked to sell that swap.
Tech reviewer Mike O’Brien, who has been testing the X7 Plus Gen 2, put the homeowner case in one line: “a robot lawn mower is the best investment most homeowners aren’t making.” His pitch is hours back and a machine that runs at 2 a.m. Equip’s pitch is the person who has to stock it, demo it on a slope, and explain the renewal.
The X8 Plus Is on the Floor, Not the U.S. Shop
Sunseeker’s Oct. 13 release said the Gen 2 range is the everyday lineup, while the X5 Gen3 and X8 Plus “offer a glimpse into the next stage.” That is not a U.S. ship date. The X8 Plus is the indoor X8 showcase. It is the machine the press kit leads with, and it is the one with no price on the U.S. collections page.
The stack is heavier than the shop models. The company says the X8 Plus fuses nRTK with solid-state LiDAR, stereo vision, and an infrared camera, and that EdgeZero 2.0 is built to cut a zero-inch gap along borders. AONavi 3.0 is listed as exclusive to it. The point of that extra sensing is the failure every wire-free owner already knows: satellite lock dies under a dense canopy and against a tall wall, which is exactly where a mower still has to turn.
A mid-October hardware test of the current X7 Gen 2 praised the all-wheel climb and called out two holes the flagship is meant to close. The tester found no edge trimmer on that model and no LiDAR, so the robot leaned on RTK in the places trees block the sky. Some X7 units have already shown up in the U.S. returns trade, which is the path a $2,499 robot takes when setup still feels like a project.
WHAT WE KNOW
- On the floor: The X8 Plus is part of the Equip showcase for large home lawns, with live mower demos listed on the booth page.
- Sensor claim: nRTK, solid-state LiDAR, stereo vision, and an infrared camera, framed as night-time animal detection.
- Edge claim: EdgeZero 2.0 is described as a zero-inch border cut, a job most robot mowers still leave for a string trimmer.
WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED
- U.S. price: No figure on the U.S. shop or collections page.
- Ship window: The Oct. 13 release did not give a retail date.
- Real turf: The zero-inch edge and canopy lock have not been posted as independent field results from Louisville.
Until those three land, the flagship is a booth argument. Dealers can watch it. They cannot put it on a ticket.
A Phillies Pitching Cage on the Demo Lawn
Sunseeker Robotics was founded in Shanghai in 2009, spent 2010 to 2016 on garden tools, opened a robot-mower lab in 2017, and shipped its first robots in 2019. The Elite Lab followed in 2023. In 2024 the company says it launched the first wireless X7 and passed 180,000 robot mower sales. The About page also claims a top-three global share, 600-plus patents, 11 branches, 1,600-plus staff, and 2 million outdoor machines a year across power tools and robots.
THE SUNSEEKER TIMELINE
- 2009: Sunseeker Robotics is founded in Shanghai.
- 2017: First robotic mower research center opens.
- 2019: First-generation robot mowers ship.
- 2023: Sunseeker Elite Lab is founded.
- 2024: Wireless X7 launches; robot mower sales pass 180,000.
- Oct. 13, 2026: The company says it will take the Gen 2 line, the X5 Gen3, and the X8 Plus to Equip Expo.
- Oct. 21, 2026: Dealer preview opens at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The Oct. 13 release tied that history to a Philadelphia Phillies partnership, with a baseball-themed robot demo and an outdoor pitching game with prizes. The booth page repeats the challenge. It is a lifestyle wrapper on a dealer stand. The last line on that page is still a partner form, not a consumer checkout.
PANDAG Brings a 12-Acre Machine a Few Aisles Over
Sunseeker is not the only robot maker hunting the same badges. Research firm Arizton put the global category at a $3.45 billion robotic mower market in 2025, heading for $7.01 billion by 2031. That is enough money to fill an outdoor-power hall that still runs on gas decks and battery zero-turns.
WHO ELSE BROUGHT A ROBOT
- PANDAG: Two G1 configurations, a 48-inch deck, up to 12 acres a day, slopes to 38 degrees, indoor booth 21062 and outdoor 6267D.
- TerraMow: U.S. debut of its AWD line at indoor booth 42862 and outdoor 5540D.
- Greenworks: AiMowbot robots beside the OPTIMUS crew, indoor booth 3182 and outdoor 7632D.
- RC Mowers: A new autonomous commercial platform at booth 7056, shown first in the Oct. 21 dealer and media preview.
- ECOVACS: Listed among Equip exhibitors on the official gallery, another home-robot brand walking a contractor show.
Toro, EGO, and Briggs & Stratton still own the big iron on the same dates. The robot aisle is no longer a side tent. A dealer who came to Louisville for a stand-on deck can leave with a Chinese-built map-and-modem mower on the quote sheet, and several brands are bidding for that line.
Edge Work the Robots Still Leave Behind
The chore that survives most robot mowers is the strip along fences, beds, and the house. Sunseeker says EdgeZero 2.0 on the X8 Plus closes that to zero inches. The X5 Gen 2 is rated to 1.2 inches. The X7 Gen 2, the model a U.S. buyer can actually order for $2,499, was dinged in that mid-October test for skipping a trimmer altogether. If the flagship does what the brochure says, the string-trimmer visit is the product. If it does not, dealers will still sell the extra hour of labor.
Canopy and night work are the other open items. Network RTK needs a 4G path. VSLAM is the backup when satellites drop. The X8 Plus adds LiDAR and an infrared camera for the same reason. That is not on a U.S. invoice yet. The shop robots are the X4 at $1,399, the X5 Gen 2 at $1,999, the X7 pair at $2,499 and $2,999, and the X9 pair at $5,899 and $6,999.
The outdoor slope demo stays open through Oct. 23. Dealers who want a franchise packet are being pointed to Sunseeker’s partner form from booth 1190, which is the whole point of bringing a wire-free robot to a show that still smells like two-stroke mix.
