Opply Raises $7.5 Million to Run CPG Cash Cycles

Opply raised $7.5 million after 15-fold revenue growth, putting AI agents on a 90-day supplier-pay float for small CPG brands.

Opply raised $7.5 million after 15-fold growth in gross revenue over 12 months. Chalfen Ventures led the round on October 21, 2026, with Index Ventures, Anthemis, Entrepreneurs First, In This Together and Ventures Together in the syndicate.

The London and Chicago company sells that cheque as fuel for Brain, its agentic operating system for consumer packaged goods brands. The quieter mechanism is older: Opply already pays the supplier and waits up to 90 days for the brand to repay, inside a credit limit.

A 90-Day Float Inside an AI Round

Helen Murphy, co-founder and chief executive, and Martin Postel, co-founder and chief technology officer, built Opply in 2021 for food and drink brands that cannot staff a procurement desk. The current site still leads on AI agents. The cash product sits one scroll down: Opply pays the supplier on the supplier’s terms, then the brand pays Opply later.

That is a working-capital gap most early CPG labels live inside. Retailers often settle on long dates. Co-packers and ingredient houses want money much sooner. Opply’s order pages describe one monthly invoice and terms marketed as interest-free until they fall due, with Brain told to ask before it commits a brand’s money.

THE PAYMENT LOOP

  • Supplier terms: Opply pays the vendor on the dates the vendor already uses, so the relationship does not have to be reopened.
  • One invoice: Orders across suppliers are rolled into a single monthly bill rather than a stack of separate due dates.
  • The wait: The brand repays Opply later, up to 90 days, inside a credit limit Opply sets after its own checks.
  • The halt: Brain is built to explain each call and to ask before anything that spends the brand’s cash.
  • The rail: Opply’s privacy policy says extended terms may run through third-party partners, including Two Inc, and that late invoices can be reported to a credit insurer after a five-business-day grace period.

So the new equity sits on top of a book that already behaves like trade finance. If order volume jumps, someone has to fund the 90-day wait. That someone is not only a language model.

Brain Runs the Orders and Still Asks for a Yes

Opply’s homepage frames Brain as the system behind group purchasing, supplier matching, purchase-order chasing, compliance packs, co-manufacturer search and the payable dashboard. Agents locate suppliers, place and watch orders, check certificates and pay vendors. The company says it is not handing brands another to-do list.

It still will not let the software write a cheque unsupervised. The about page is blunt: Brain explains every decision and asks before anything that commits money. That is a narrower kind of “agentic” than the Fortune 500 pitch now circulating in procurement, and it is the version a credit insurer can live with.

THE SCALE OPPLY PUBLISHES

  • Brands: Hundreds of CPG companies run on the platform, with food and beverage as the first vertical.
  • Actions: The company says the system performs hundreds of thousands of actions a year.
  • Network: Thousands of qualified suppliers sit in the live network Opply will stand behind on delivery.
  • Fill rate: It publishes a 98% on-time, in-full delivery rate across those orders.

Named customers on the site include Agua de Madre, the London water-kefir maker; Unrooted; Counter Culture; and Jukes Cordialities. The October announcement also names RMBR, a US kombucha brand, among the accounts it is willing to put next to the growth claims.

Who Put $7.5 Million Behind the Model?

Chalfen Ventures led the new round, as it did the seed. Mike Chalfen, the firm’s founder, backed the company at the start and is doubling down after the US opening. Index Ventures is the new large name on the list. Anthemis, the financial-services investor, returns, which fits a product that prices credit as well as software. Entrepreneurs First, the talent backer that first put Murphy and Postel together, is still in. In This Together is a transatlantic syndicate built to help European companies win in America. Ventures Together is a London angel group.

FUNDING SO FAR

Round Date Amount Lead
Seed June 15, 2022 $4 million Chalfen Ventures and Anthemis
New round October 21, 2026 $7.5 million Chalfen Ventures

The company did not name a series or a valuation. It did say US revenue, from a Chicago office opened in 2025, grew 30-fold in 12 months, and that the fresh capital is meant to take the same model from emerging labels to larger international brands.

It’s a beautiful thing to see a team I backed at the start exceed my very high expectations. Opply has all the ingredients to become a globally significant business: custom AIs that together have proven to make customer operations work end to end; as a result, exceptional growth; and a huge market opportunity in front of it.

Mike Chalfen, founder, Chalfen Ventures, Opply announcement, October 21, 2026

Chalfen went further, saying he believes Opply can become the operational backbone of a multi-trillion-dollar industry. Allied Market Research, cited in the same announcement, forecasts the global CPG market at $18.9 trillion by 2031. In the United States the Consumer Brands Association and PwC put the sector’s contribution at $2.5 trillion to US GDP and 22.3 million jobs.

The Path From Marketplace to Merchant of Record

Opply did not start as an agent company. It started as a way for small food brands to find ingredient suppliers without a procurement team, then added the delayed-pay product when those brands asked for cash as well as contacts.

FROM MARKETPLACE TO BRAIN

  1. 2021: Murphy and Postel found Opply after meeting on the Entrepreneur First programme, with a brief that a CPG brand should not need a procurement department to buy well.
  2. June 15, 2022: The company raises $4 million in seed funding led by Chalfen Ventures and Anthemis, and talks at the time about two months saved on sourcing and 20% lower costs.
  3. 2025: A Chicago office opens. The US book is later cited as 30-fold larger over the following 12 months.
  4. October 21, 2026: Opply raises $7.5 million and describes Brain as the system that now runs purchase orders, sourcing, supplier payments and compliance.

Company terms still describe a merchant-of-record option, meaning Opply can stand in as the buyer on paper. That is how a former marketplace becomes the party that owes the mill and later collects from the brand. The about page now tells that arc as a move from supplier marketplace to Brain.

Murphy came to that problem with a mechanical engineering degree from Durham University, a stretch at Procter & Gamble running its largest ecommerce account, a later stint at Bain, and a baby and pet food brand of her own. Shipping costs from China jumped almost overnight and the margins on that brand collapsed. Postel arrived with a mechanical-engineering doctorate from ETH Zürich, where he used machine learning on milling productivity, and with internships at Airbus.

Small Food Brands Pay Suppliers Before Retailers Pay Them

The customer Opply is built for is the operator who has a retail listing and a co-packer deposit due in the same month. Murphy has said CPG supply chains have stayed fragmented and manual for too long, and that the software should do the work rather than describe it.

CPG supply chains have remained fragmented and manual for far too long. By taking operational complexity out of the equation, we give ambitious brands the headroom to grow faster, invest in innovation and reach more customers. Our AI technology doesn’t just tell brands what needs to be done. It does the work, managing everything from sourcing and procurement to payments and supply chains.

Helen Murphy, co-founder and CEO, Opply announcement, October 21, 2026

Agua de Madre is the case Opply puts closest to the camera. On Opply’s own case page the brand shows a 14X return on investment in 12 months, 40% annual cost-of-goods savings, 12 hours a week back for the team, and a 98% on-time, in-full score, with Opply taking purchasing, invoicing, contracts and payments and extending terms in the 60-to-90-day range while lifting the credit limit. Leon Pullin, Agua de Madre’s managing director, said the company felt like an extension of his team.

CUSTOMER RESULTS OPPLY LISTS

  • Agua de Madre: 14X return, 40% annual COGS savings, 12 hours a week, 98% on-time in full.
  • Unrooted: 40% annual COGS savings, per the homepage quote from Amber Numamoto, head of operations.
  • Counter Culture: 35% lower annual COGS; Tom Smart, chief executive and co-founder, said the brand would not have found those suppliers without Opply.
  • Jukes Cordialities: a 100% certification pass rate during a move to organic ingredients, according to Melania, head of production.

Those figures are Opply’s, attached to named accounts. They are also the reason a 90-day payable product sells. A 40% ingredient save is useful. Being able to pay the mill after the retailer has begun to pay you is what keeps the line running.

Enterprise Procurement Agents Raised $75 Million

Three months before Opply’s announcement, Freehand in San Francisco closed $75 million for Fortune 500 agents that read contracts, negotiate, pay invoices and reconcile inside systems such as SAP and Oracle. That round, co-led by Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners on July 29, 2026, named Meta, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Dunkin’, Pfizer and Cardinal Health as deployments. Freehand says early customers have recovered 5 to 10% of spend in complex categories, finished workflows 5 to 7 times faster, and cut procure-to-pay cycles by more than 70%.

TWO AGENT PRODUCTS, TWO CHEQUES

Company Cheque Date Buyer Job on the invoice
Opply $7.5 million October 21, 2026 Growing CPG and food brands Source, pay the supplier, float up to 90 days
Freehand $75 million July 29, 2026 Fortune 500 procurement teams Negotiate, pay and reconcile inside ERP

Ten times the equity went to the enterprise layer, where the customer already has SAP, a treasury desk and a bank line. Opply’s smaller cheque is pointed at brands that need someone to be the operations team and, on many orders, the working-capital line. Group purchasing, pooled rates on common ingredients, is how Opply says those brands get large-buyer pricing without changing the recipe. The homepage puts that next to a 40% lower annual COGS claim; the named cases above are the figures it is willing to attach to real labels.

What This Check Can Fund in a Cash-Cycle Business

A $7.5 million round after 15-fold gross revenue growth can hire engineers in London and sales staff in Chicago, and it can carry the company while US onboarding stays this steep. It cannot, on its own, float every 90-day payable for hundreds of food brands if those brands keep scaling orders. That is why the privacy policy’s credit partners matter, and why Brain still stops for a human yes before it spends.

WHAT WE KNOW

  • Closed terms: $7.5 million raised on October 21, 2026, led by Chalfen Ventures, with Index Ventures among the new participants.
  • Growth claims: 15-fold gross revenue in 12 months, and 30-fold in the US over 12 months after the 2025 Chicago launch, both from Opply’s announcement.
  • Product shape: agents plus a supplier network plus extended payment terms, with Opply able to act as merchant of record.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

  • Valuation: no post-money figure was published with the round.
  • Series label: the company did not call the cheque a Series A or a seed extension.
  • Who holds the book: how much of the 90-day float sits on Opply’s own balance sheet, on Two Inc, or on credit insurance was not broken out.

Murphy said the money is there to take the model to more businesses, from ambitious emerging brands to major global players. The agents can chase the purchase order. The credit limit is still a limit, and the next test is whether that limit grows as fast as the US book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Led Opply’s 2022 Seed Round, and Who Else Wrote Cheques?

Chalfen Ventures and Anthemis led a $4 million seed on June 15, 2022, with Entrepreneurs First staying in. Angel cheques at that round included founders and teams from GoCardless, Trouva, Farewill and Jamjar, according to the company’s seed notice at the time. The 2026 round brings Index Ventures in for the first time on the public list.

Does Opply Replace a Brand’s Current Suppliers?

Opply’s supplier pages say brands can keep the vendors they already use. The company consolidates orders, communications and invoices, and it can pay those vendors on the dates they already expect. For new sourcing it says it works only with vetted suppliers, and it has also said it is not a browse-and-click marketplace: the system handles matching and ordering behind the scenes.

What Does Opply Charge If an Invoice Runs Late?

Terms marketed on the order-management pages are interest-free until the due date. Opply’s marketplace terms then set overdue interest at 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate for UK-governed deals, or 1.5% a month for US-governed deals, or the legal maximum if that is lower. The same terms give a five-business-day grace period before a late UK or similar invoice is reported to the credit insurer.

How Wide Is Opply’s Network Today?

The company lists two offices, London and Chicago, and says it operates across the UK, Europe and North America. Its case-studies pages state that the service is available in 32 countries. The live supplier network it will stand behind is described as thousands of qualified names, which is a tighter set than the larger discovery databases it has cited in older materials.
