Sigma, a leading manufacturer of lenses for various camera systems, has launched a new telephoto zoom lens for Fujifilm X mount cameras. The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.4 DG DN OS | C is the first lens of its kind for the Fujifilm X mount, offering a versatile focal range equivalent to 150-600mm on a full-frame sensor. The lens is designed to deliver high-quality images with minimal aberrations and distortions, as well as fast and accurate autofocus performance.
A compact and lightweight lens for travel and action photography
The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.4 DG DN OS | C is a compact and lightweight lens, weighing only 1135 grams and measuring 199.5mm in length. The lens features a dual action zoom mechanism, which allows users to either twist the zoom ring or push-pull the lens hood for quick and precise zooming. The lens also has a focus limiter switch, which enables users to optimize the autofocus range according to the shooting distance.
The lens has an optical construction of 22 elements in 16 groups, including one FLD and four SLD elements, which help to reduce chromatic aberrations and enhance sharpness across the frame. The lens also has a Super Multi-Layer Coating on the front element, which reduces flare and ghosting. The lens has an optical stabilizer, which provides up to five stops of compensation for camera shake. The lens also supports in-camera aberration correction for Fujifilm X mount cameras.
The lens has a minimum focus distance of 160cm at 400mm, and a maximum magnification ratio of 0.24x, which enables users to capture close-up and macro shots with ease. The lens has a circular diaphragm with nine blades, which creates smooth and attractive bokeh effects.
A unique feature for Fujifilm X mount users
The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.4 DG DN OS | C has a unique feature for Fujifilm X mount users, which is the AF Function Setting switch and AF Function button on the side of the lens barrel. This feature allows users to switch between AF Lock and AF activation modes by pressing the button while turning the switch. This enables users to quickly change the autofocus behavior according to the shooting situation.
The AF Lock mode locks the focus at the current distance when the button is pressed, while the AF activation mode activates the autofocus when the button is pressed. This feature is designed to accommodate the different camera software of Fujifilm X mount cameras.
A competitive price and availability
The Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.4 DG DN OS | C is priced at £899.99 in the UK, and $949 in the US. The lens will be available from September 23, 2023. The lens comes with a lens hood and a protective cover (PT-31), which can be replaced with an optional tripod collar (TS-111) for more stability when using a tripod.
