Apple Watch is not only a smart device that can track your health, fitness, and notifications, but also a handy tool that can help you with everyday tasks. One of the features that Apple Watch offers is the ability to calculate tip and split the check when you dine out with your friends or family. Here is how you can use this feature on your Apple Watch.
The first step is to launch the Calculator app on your Apple Watch. You can do this by either tapping on the app icon on the Home screen, or by asking Siri to open the Calculator app. The Calculator app allows you to perform basic arithmetic operations, as well as tip and split functions.
Enter the Total Amount of the Bill
The next step is to enter the total amount of the bill. You can do this by tapping on the numbers and operators on the screen, or by using the Digital Crown to scroll through the numbers. You can also use Siri to dictate the amount, such as “What is 73 plus 9?” or “What is 18 percent of 225?”
Choose a Tip Percentage
After you enter the total amount of the bill, you can choose a tip percentage by tapping on the Tip button in the top-right corner, just left of the divide button. The Tip button will turn green, and you can use the Digital Crown to adjust the percentage. The default tip percentage is 20%, but you can change it to any value you want. You can also use Siri to say the percentage, such as “15 percent” or “25 percent”.
Split the Check Among People
If you are sharing the bill with other people, you can split the check by tapping on the People button, next to the Tip button. The People button will turn green, and you can use the Digital Crown to change the number of people. The maximum number of people is 50. You can also use Siri to say the number, such as “four people” or “six people”.
See the Tip Amount, Total Amount, and Individual Amount
Once you choose the tip percentage and the number of people, you will see the tip amount, the total amount, and the individual amount on the screen. The tip amount is the percentage of the bill that you are adding as a tip. The total amount is the sum of the bill and the tip. The individual amount is the amount that each person owes if the bill is split evenly. You can also use Siri to ask for these amounts, such as “What is the tip amount?” or “What is the individual amount?”
Note: The Tip feature is not available in all regions. If you see a standard percentage (%) button where the Tip button should be, you can change the calculator layout to replace it. Simply go to Settings -> Calculator and select Tip Function instead of Percent.
