Tekken 8 beta returns with more features and improvements

Fans of the popular fighting game series Tekken are in for a treat as Bandai Namco announced another beta test for the upcoming Tekken 8. The beta will run from October 20 to October 23 and will include more characters, modes, stages and changes from the previous test in July.

The beta will feature 19 playable characters, including new addition Azucena and returning fighters Raven and Feng Wei. It will also have six stages to choose from, one of which is new to the beta. Players will be able to test their skills online against other players or practice in the training mode.

One of the most anticipated features of the beta is the avatar creation and customization system, which allows players to design their own characters and outfits. The system is similar to the one in SoulCalibur, another fighting game series by Bandai Namco. Players will also be able to customize the existing characters with different costumes and accessories.

What’s changed from the previous test?

The beta will also introduce some balance tweaks and gameplay improvements based on the feedback from the previous test in July. One of the major changes is the adjustment of the Heat system, which is a new mechanic that allows players to perform powerful moves and combos by filling up a gauge.

The Heat system has been modified to prevent players from using it to create excessively long combos that could be unfair or frustrating for the opponent. The damage of some of the Heat moves has also been reduced to make them more balanced. Additionally, the movement speed and responsiveness of the characters has been improved, especially for dashing and backdashing.

Bandai Namco said that these changes are aimed at making Tekken 8 more fun and accessible for both new and veteran players, while still maintaining the depth and challenge that the series is known for.

How to join the beta?

The beta is open to anyone who owns a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One or PC. However, players need to register for a chance to get an access code, as the beta is limited in capacity. Players who participated in the previous test in July do not need to register again, as they will automatically receive a code for the new beta.

Registration is open until October 11 on Bandai Namco’s website. Players who get selected will receive an email with their code and instructions on how to download and play the beta. The beta will start on October 20 at 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT / 6:00 PM BST / 7:00 PM CEST and end on October 23 at 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT / 6:00 PM BST / 7:00 PM CEST.

Tekken 8 is scheduled to launch on February 18, 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. The game will feature a story mode that continues the saga of the Mishima family, as well as new and returning characters, stages, modes and features.
