The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 kicked off on January 8 in Las Vegas, showcasing the latest innovations and trends in the tech industry. Among the many devices that were unveiled, one of the most impressive was the Oppo Find X7 Ultra, the flagship smartphone from the Chinese brand that boasts a world-first quad main camera system with HyperTone image engine.
The Find X7 Ultra is not the first smartphone to feature four rear cameras, but it is the first to have four 50MP cameras with large sensors, two of which are periscope zoom cameras. This means that the phone can capture stunning photos and videos at various focal lengths, from ultra-wide to telephoto, with high resolution and detail.
The wide camera of the Find X7 Ultra is the first to use the Sony LYT-900 1-inch sensor, which is specially designed for mobile photography and offers better power efficiency and computational capabilities than its predecessor. The wide camera has a 23mm focal length, an f/1.8 aperture, and optical image stabilization (OIS), making it ideal for capturing landscapes, portraits, and low-light scenes.
The ultra-wide camera of the Find X7 Ultra uses the Sony LYT-600 1/1.95” sensor, which is also larger than most of its competitors. The ultra-wide camera has a 14mm focal length, an f/2.0 aperture, and a 4cm nearest focus distance, allowing it to take stunning macro shots and wide-angle views.
The Find X7 Ultra is also the first phone to feature two periscope cameras, each with class-leading large sensors. The 3x periscope zoom camera uses the Sony IMX890 1/1.56” sensor, which is about three times larger than the equivalent cameras in other phones. The 3x periscope zoom camera has a 65mm focal length, an f/2.6 aperture, and prism OIS, enabling it to capture clear and crisp zoomed-in photos.
The 6x periscope zoom camera uses the Sony IMX858 1/1.7” sensor, which is also bigger than most of its rivals. The 6x periscope zoom camera has a 135mm focal length, an f/4.3 aperture, and prism OIS, allowing it to reach further and capture more details. The Find X7 Ultra can also use digital cropping to achieve up to 12x zoom and beyond, up to 270mm equivalent.
How Does the Find X7 Ultra Enhance the Photos and Videos?
The Find X7 Ultra not only has impressive hardware, but also powerful software to enhance the photos and videos it takes. The phone introduces the HyperTone Camera System, which combines the quad main camera with the HyperTone Image Engine, a computational photography algorithm that preserves the highlights, shadows, and mid-tones of the images while maintaining their integrity.
The Find X7 Ultra also benefits from the partnership with Hasselblad, the renowned Swedish camera maker. The phone features Hasselblad Portrait Mode, which creates natural and realistic bokeh effects for the subjects, and Hasselblad Master Mode, which gives users more control over the camera settings and modes.
