Unsettled Weather Expected Across Egypt This Week

Strong Winds, Dust Storms, and Rainfall on the Horizon

Egyptians should brace for a week of unpredictable weather, with strong winds, dust storms, and rain expected to hit various regions. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued an alert, warning of unsettled conditions that could disrupt daily life and maritime activities.

Monday Kicks Off with Sandstorms and Rough Seas

The start of the week brings turbulent weather, with wind activity stirring up sand and dust across Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and northern Upper Egypt. The Canal cities, eastern coasts, and central Sinai are also expected to experience reduced visibility due to airborne particles.

  • Wind speeds are projected to range from 40 to 60 km/h, significantly impacting exposed areas.
  • The Mediterranean Sea will see waves rising between 2 to 3 meters, making maritime navigation challenging.
  • A chance of light rain is forecasted for the western coasts and the Western Desert later in the evening.

Tuesday Brings Rain and More Wind Disruptions

Tuesday’s forecast continues the trend of unstable weather, with light to moderate rainfall expected in the northern coastal areas, Lower Egypt, and the Canal cities. Wind activity may intensify, stirring up sand and dust in exposed areas, creating hazardous conditions for travelers and residents alike.

The EMA has advised caution, particularly for those commuting or engaging in outdoor activities. Sudden gusts of wind could make driving difficult, while those with respiratory conditions are urged to take necessary precautions against dust inhalation.

Midweek Wind Surges and Temperature Swings

As the week progresses, wind activity is expected to persist across the northern coasts and southern regions. From Wednesday, April 2, to Friday, April 5, strong gusts will continue to sweep through parts of the country, contributing to fluctuations in temperature and air quality.

One of the key concerns during this period is the increased risk of travel disruptions. With visibility potentially dropping in certain areas and turbulent sea conditions persisting, authorities are urging caution for both road and sea travelers.

Precautionary Measures and Public Warnings

The EMA has emphasized that weather forecasts are subject to daily updates and advises the public to stay informed. Officials recommend the following safety measures:

  • Secure loose objects and avoid outdoor activities during peak wind hours.
  • Drivers should reduce speed and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
  • People with respiratory conditions should wear masks or avoid exposure to dust-heavy areas.

While the unsettled weather may bring challenges, it also marks the transition into spring, a period known for its fluctuating climate patterns in Egypt. As the country adapts to these changing conditions, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and prepared for further updates from meteorological authorities.
