Ducati Celebrates 30 Years of the 916 with a Special Panigale V4 SP2

Ducati is known for making some of the most iconic and beautiful motorcycles in the world, and one of them is the 916, which was launched in 1994 and revolutionized the design and performance of sportbikes. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 916, Ducati has unveiled a special edition of the Panigale V4 SP2, the 30th Anniversario 916, which pays tribute to the legendary bike and its racing heritage.

The Panigale V4 SP2 30th Anniversario 916 is not just a cosmetic makeover, but a limited and numbered series of 500 units, each with a certificate of authenticity and a dedicated motorcycle cover. The bike features a unique livery that replicates the one used by Carl Fogarty, the four-time World Superbike champion who won his first title on the 916 in 1994. The bike also has the Shell and “Foggy” logos that can be optionally applied to complete the look.

The bike’s headstock is machined from billet aluminum and bears the model name and the bike number (XXX/500). The tank is also made of brushed aluminum, adding to the exclusivity and elegance of the bike. The seat has a “30th” logo embroidered on it, reminding the rider of the special occasion.

A High-Spec Machine with Carbon Fiber and Brembo Parts

The Panigale V4 SP2 30th Anniversario 916 is based on the high-spec SP2 version of the Panigale V4, which means it has some of the best components available on the market. The bike is powered by the same 1,103cc V4 engine that produces 215 hp, but it also has an STM EVO-SBK dry clutch that gives it the classic Ducati sound and feel.

The bike is equipped with Öhlins NPX 25/30 fork, Brembo Stylema R brake calipers, and a Brembo MCS 19.21 front brake master cylinder with remote adjuster. The brake system also has air ducts that improve the cooling and performance of the brakes. The bike has five-spoke carbon fiber wheels that are 3 pounds lighter than the forged Marchesinis on the V4 S and 7.5 pounds lighter than the Panigale V4 wheels, reducing the inertial momentum and increasing the agility of the bike.

The bike also has a lot of carbon fiber parts, such as the front mudguard, the wings, the brake caliper scoops, and the exhaust heat shield. The bike also comes with a titanium Akrapovič exhaust, a billet aluminum fuel filler cap, and a carbon fiber open clutch cover.

A Tribute to the Iconic 916 and Its Racing Legacy

The Panigale V4 SP2 30th Anniversario 916 is more than just a bike, it is a tribute to the iconic 916 and its racing legacy. The 916 was designed by Massimo Tamburini, one of the most influential motorcycle designers of all time, and it set a new standard for sportbike design and performance. The 916 won 120 races, eight constructors’ titles, and six riders’ titles in the World Superbike Championship, becoming one of the most successful and admired bikes in history.

The Panigale V4 SP2 30th Anniversario 916 is a way for Ducati to celebrate the 30 years of the 916 and to honor the riders who made it famous, such as Carl Fogarty, Troy Corser, Troy Bayliss, and many others. The bike is also a testament to Ducati’s passion and innovation, as it combines the latest technology with the timeless style of the 916.

The Panigale V4 SP2 30th Anniversario 916 is expected to be one of the stars of Ducati’s new-model launches for 2024, which will take place over the next few weeks. The bike will be available in limited numbers and at a premium price, but it will surely be a collector’s item and a dream machine for many Ducati fans.
