Cairo Airport seeks partners for retail and F&B concession

Cairo International Airport (CIA) is looking for qualified companies to operate a commercial master concession at its Terminal 3. The concession will cover around 2,000 square meters of retail and food & beverage space in the airside departure hall. The airport company has issued an expression of interest (EOI) to invite potential partners to submit their proposals.

The EOI was released on Monday, 26 February 2024, by Cairo Airport Company (CAC), a subsidiary of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHAAN), and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, 24 March 2024, after which CAC will launch a competitive tender process.

According to the EOI, interested applicants should provide the following documents:

  • Proof of the company’s legal registration (company’s gazette, commercial register, etc.)
  • Proof of previous experience of five years or more in operating and managing commercial activities
  • Details of projects executed for the past three years
  • Copies of audited financial statements
  • Company profile, structure, capabilities, experience, staff, etc.

The EOI should also include the following information:

  • The applicant’s vision and concept
  • The initial operation/work plan
  • The expected operational period
  • The proposed preparedness level
  • The capability to provide no fewer than eight F&B brands/trademarks (including at least five international ones) and no fewer than four retail brands/trademarks (including at least two international ones)

Qualified companies will be shortlisted based on the evaluation criteria and qualification requirements, and will be able to obtain the request for proposal (RFP) documents and submit their financial and technical proposals.

Enhancing the shopping experience

The commercial master concession is part of CAC’s efforts to enhance the shopping experience and the performance of Cairo International Airport, which is the main gateway of the capital of Egypt and a destination for all aviation movements. The airport company is interested in engaging with companies that own, manage, or have a franchise agreement for multiple international brands or trademarks in F&B and/or retail.

The chosen vendor will be responsible for designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the commercial area, which is located in a strategic position within the terminal. The vendor will also have to comply with the regulations of the purchase and sale policy of CAC and EHAAN, as well as the standards of the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The commercial area is expected to offer a variety of products and services to cater to the needs and preferences of the passengers, who come from different nationalities and cultures. The airport company hopes that the concession will increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of the airport, as well as generate more revenues and create more job opportunities.
