Apple Updates macOS Ventura With Security Fixes and Bug Fixes

Apple has released the latest version of its operating system for Mac computers, macOS Ventura 13.6, on Thursday, September 21, 2023. The update comes almost two months after the launch of macOS Ventura 13.5 and introduces important security and bug fixes for Mac users.

Security Fixes in macOS Ventura 13.6

According to Apple’s release notes, macOS Ventura 13.6 includes several security fixes that address vulnerabilities in various components of the operating system, such as CoreGraphics, Kernel, WebKit, and more. Some of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, access sensitive information, or cause a denial of service.

Apple recommends that all users install the software update as soon as possible to protect their Macs from potential threats. Users can download the update for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings.

Bug Fixes in macOS Ventura 13.6

In addition to security fixes, macOS Ventura 13.6 also includes some bug fixes that improve the performance and stability of the operating system. Some of the issues that have been resolved are:

  • Fixed an issue where some Macs could not wake from sleep when connected to certain displays
  • Fixed an issue where some Macs could experience audio distortion when using AirPods

macOS Ventura Will Soon Be Replaced With macOS Sonoma

macOS Ventura 13.6 is likely to be one of the last updates for the current version of macOS, as Apple plans to release macOS Sonoma, the newest version of macOS, on September 26. macOS Sonoma will bring a major redesign to the Mac interface, along with new features such as Universal Control, AirPlay to Mac, Focus Mode, Quick Note, and more.

Users who want to upgrade to macOS Sonoma will need a compatible Mac model, which includes:

  • MacBook (2016 and later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2016 and later)
  • iMac (2017 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017 and later)
  • Mac mini (2018 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

Users who have an older Mac model will not be able to upgrade to macOS Sonoma and will have to stick with macOS Ventura or earlier versions.
