Xiaomi has launched its latest wireless earbuds, the Redmi Buds 5, along with the Redmi Note 13 series in China. The new earbuds offer some impressive features for a budget price, such as noise cancellation, long battery life, and a special edition design.
One of the main highlights of the Redmi Buds 5 is the active noise cancellation feature, which can reduce the ambient noise by up to 46 dB. The earbuds have three noise cancellation modes: light, balanced, and deep, which can be adjusted according to the user’s preference and environment. The earbuds also have three transparency modes: normal, enhanced, and vocal, which can let the user hear the outside sound when needed.
The noise cancellation feature works for calls as well, thanks to the two noise-cancelling microphones and a new AI-powered algorithm that can filter out the background noise and enhance the voice quality. The earbuds also support voice assistant and touch control for easy operation.
Audio Quality and Battery Life
The Redmi Buds 5 also boast of improved audio quality, with a long precision-wound coil and 12.4mm drivers with titanium-coated diaphragm. The earbuds support AAC codec and Bluetooth 5.2 for stable and high-quality wireless connection.
The battery life of the earbuds is another standout feature, as they can last for up to 40 hours with the charging case. The earbuds themselves have a battery capacity of 60mAh each, which can provide up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge. The charging case has a battery capacity of 600mAh, which can charge the earbuds four times. The earbuds also support fast charging, which can give them two hours of playback with just five minutes of charging.
Design and Special Edition
The Redmi Buds 5 have a new and more ergonomic design, with a semi-in-ear fit and a lightweight body. The earbuds weigh only 4.9g each, while the charging case weighs 48g. The earbuds are available in three colors: black, white, and blue.
Xiaomi has also collaborated with the clothing brand AAPE to create a special edition of the Redmi Buds 5, which have a camouflage paint job and a logo on the charging case. The special edition earbuds are more expensive than the standard ones, but they offer a unique and stylish look.
Price and Availability
The Redmi Buds 5 are priced at CNY 199 ($27) for the standard edition and CNY 299 ($40) for the AAPE edition. They are currently available for pre-order in China, and will go on sale on September 30. There is no word on when they will be launched in other markets.
