LG unveils world’s first OLED gaming monitors with dual refresh rate modes

LG Electronics has announced its latest lineup of premium UltraGear OLED gaming monitors at CES 2023, featuring the world’s first OLED panels with dual refresh rate modes. The new models, 27GR95QE and 45GR95QE, offer unprecedented speed and immersion for gamers and content creators.

The 27GR95QE is LG’s first 27-inch OLED gaming monitor, offering a QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate and a staggering 0.03ms (GTG) response time. This makes it the fastest OLED monitor in the market, providing smooth, low-latency gaming performance. The monitor also covers 98.5 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, ensuring vibrant and accurate colors that fully capture the vision of the game developers and digital artists.

The 27GR95QE supports variable refresh rate (VRR), NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium, ensuring seamless visuals with minimal tearing or stuttering. It also supports HDMI 2.1 specifications and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity, and features a 4-pole headphone jack that allows users to enjoy the realistic, spatial sound of DTS Headphone:X. Additionally, the monitor comes with a remote control that provides quick and easy display management and programmable hotkeys.

LG’s 45-inch curved OLED monitor offers 165Hz at 5K resolution

The 45GR95QE is LG’s first-ever 45-inch curved OLED gaming monitor, featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio, WQHD (3,440 x 1,440) resolution screen with an 800R curvature. It is also the very first 45-inch display with such a high curvature, designed to deliver next-level gaming immersion. The monitor boasts a 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio and 98.5 percent coverage of DCI-P3, producing bright, vivid, and crisp images that not only make the onscreen action come alive, but also heighten the player’s focus.

The 45GR95QE has a 165Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms (GTG) response time, offering smooth and responsive gaming performance. It also supports VRR, NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium, as well as HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity. The monitor has been certified as a low blue light product by UL Solutions, meaning it is easier on the eyes than conventional LED panels, allowing users to play for longer with less eye discomfort.

LG’s OLED monitors feature dual refresh rate modes

One of the most innovative features of LG’s new OLED monitors is the dual refresh rate mode, which allows users to switch between native resolution at 240Hz or 1080p at 480Hz. This gives users the option to choose between higher resolution or higher performance, depending on their preference and gaming scenario. For example, users can enjoy the stunning 4K visuals at 240Hz for cinematic games, or switch to 1080p at 480Hz for competitive games that require ultra-fast reaction times.

The dual refresh rate mode is supported by the 27GR95QE and the 31.5-inch model that will be launched later this year. The 31.5-inch model will also feature a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms (GTG) response time. LG plans to release more OLED monitors with dual refresh rate modes in the future, including 34-inch, 39-inch, and 42-inch models.

LG’s OLED monitors demonstrate leadership in gaming display market

LG’s new UltraGear OLED gaming monitors demonstrate the company’s leadership in the fast-growing OLED category and its continuing strength in the global gaming display market. LG is the only manufacturer that produces OLED panels for gaming monitors, offering superior self-lit picture quality with accurate, lifelike colors and infinite contrast. LG’s OLED monitors also offer the fastest OLED performance of any UltraGear models, delivering the level of performance needed to get the most of the latest game titles.

LG’s UltraGear OLED gaming monitors will be available in select markets starting from Q1 2023. The pricing and availability details will be announced later.
