The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has forecast hot and windy weather across most regions of Egypt on Tuesday, as temperatures continue to rise and scattered dust storms reduce visibility in key areas, including the capital Cairo.
Cairo is expected to hit 35°C, with southern governorates experiencing even higher temperatures—Aswan 40°C, Qena and Sohag 39°C, making it one of the hottest days so far this spring season.
Light Rain, Strong Winds, and Dusty Skies
While much of the country bakes under rising temperatures, the Northwest Coast is expected to see light, intermittent rain, according to EMA. Elsewhere, strong winds will stir sand and dust, particularly across:
-
Cairo
-
Lower Egypt
-
Canal Cities
-
Suez Gulf region
-
Sinai
-
Southern Egypt
-
Northern Red Sea coast
These conditions are likely to disrupt horizontal visibility, especially in open areas and desert roads.
Maritime Navigation Disrupted in the Mediterranean and Gulf of Aqaba
The Mediterranean Sea is expected to witness moderate to high wave activity, with wave heights reaching 2.5 to 3 meters and wind speeds between 40–60 km/h. Surface winds will blow from the northeast to northwest.
Meanwhile, in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba, maritime conditions will be moderate to choppy, with waves ranging from 1 to 1.5 meters, accompanied by southeast to southwest winds.
Cooler Evenings Expected Despite Hot Daytime Conditions
Despite the daytime heat, moderate nighttime temperatures are expected across Egypt, providing some relief in the early and late hours.
