Honda Leads The German Motorcycle Market With New 750cc Models

Germany has seen a remarkable growth in motorcycle sales in 2023, reaching a five-year high in the first eight months of the year. According to data from the KBA, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, a total of 102,152 motorcycles have been newly registered from January to August, 2023, marking a 16-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022. The motorcycle market in Germany has been boosted by the launch of new models, especially from Honda, which has achieved an impressive 80.3 percent sales growth in August, 2023.

Honda Dominates The Market With The CB750 Hornet And The Transalp XL750

Honda has been the most successful brand in the German motorcycle market in 2023, thanks to its new 750cc models, namely the CB750 Hornet and the Transalp XL750. These two bikes have been very popular among German riders, who appreciate their versatility, performance and style. The CB750 Hornet is a naked bike that combines a sporty character with a comfortable riding position and a refined engine. The Transalp XL750 is an adventure bike that offers a balanced mix of on-road and off-road capabilities, as well as a spacious luggage capacity and a long travel suspension.

The CB750 Hornet and the Transalp XL750 have been the best-selling models for Honda in August, 2023, with 385 and 209 units sold respectively. They have also ranked second and fifth among all motorcycles sold in Germany in the same month. In total, Honda sold 2,005 motorcycles in August, 2023, securing the top spot in terms of market share for all motorcycles in the country. Honda’s other models that contributed to its success include the CB650R and CBR650R, which are also powered by the same 750cc engine.

KTM And BMW Follow Honda In The Sales Ranking

While Honda has been the undisputed leader of the German motorcycle market in 2023, other brands have also performed well and increased their sales. KTM, for instance, saw a 27.9-percent increase in sales so far in 2023, thanks to its wide range of models that cater to different segments and preferences. KTM’s best-selling model in August, 2023 was the 390 Duke, which sold 224 units and ranked fourth among all motorcycles. KTM also sold well its adventure bikes, such as the 890 Adventure and the 1290 Super Adventure.

BMW, meanwhile, continued to enjoy a lot of success with its flagship model, the R 1250 GS, which remains the most popular motorcycle in Germany. The R 1250 GS sold 670 units in August, 2023 alone, making it the top-selling model for that month. BMW also launched the all-new R 1300 GS in September, which is expected to boost its sales even further. The R 1300 GS features a larger engine, more power and torque, and improved technology and comfort.

The motorcycle market in Germany has shown a remarkable resilience and growth in 2023, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the global chip shortage.
