Galaxy S24 Ultra to feature a 200MP camera and a titanium frame, according to a new leak

Samsung is gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, early next year. The device is expected to offer some impressive features, such as a 200MP primary camera, a titanium frame, and a brighter OLED screen. A new leak has revealed more details about the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera specifications and design.

A 200MP camera with OIS and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will reportedly feature a 200MP ISOCELL HP2X primary camera sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), which is an upgrade from the 108MP sensor used in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The new sensor is said to offer better low-light performance and dynamic range. The device will also have a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, which is similar to the previous model.

However, the most surprising change in the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera setup is the telephoto camera. According to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung will replace the 10x optical zoom camera with a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The new camera will use a 1/2.52-inch sensor with 0.7μm pixels, which is similar to the one used in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The device will also have a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, which is unchanged from the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

This means that Samsung might reduce the maximum optical zoom range from 10x to 5x on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which could disappoint some fans who were expecting an improvement in this area. However, Samsung might have other reasons for this decision, such as improving the image quality or reducing the thickness of the device.

A titanium frame and a brighter OLED screen

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will also feature some design improvements over its predecessor. The device will reportedly have a titanium frame instead of aluminum, which could make it lighter and more durable. Samsung has previously used titanium for some of its premium devices, such as the Galaxy Watch4 Classic Titanium Edition and the Galaxy Z Fold3 Thom Browne Edition.

The device will also have a brighter OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,500 nits peak brightness. This could make it easier to use the device outdoors or in bright environments. The screen size is expected to be 6.8 inches, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch screen of the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Other expected features and specifications

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor or the Exynos 2400 processor, depending on the region. Both these chips are expected to use ARM’s latest CPU cores and offer improved performance and efficiency. The device will also have up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of internal storage.

The battery capacity of the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be 5,000mAh, which is the same as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, the device will support up to 45W fast charging, which is faster than the 25W charging of the previous model. The device will also have other features, such as two-way satellite emergency connectivity, an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and a 12MP selfie camera.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S24 Ultra along with the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ in January or February next year. More information about these devices is likely to be revealed in the coming months.
