What’s new with the Ninja and Ninja Ultra?

  • Both the Ninja and Ninja Ultra feature a 5-inch HDR screen with 1000 nits of brightness, which allows for accurate monitoring of exposure, focus, and color in any lighting condition.
  • Both the Ninja and Ninja Ultra support more codecs as standard, including 6K ProRes RAW, ProRes, DNxHD, and 4K H.265. These codecs were previously only available as paid add-ons for the older Ninja models. ProRes RAW is a format that preserves the full dynamic range and color information from the camera sensor, enabling more creative control in post-production.
  • Both the Ninja and Ninja Ultra run on AtomOS 11, a new and overhauled operating system that promises a cleaner and faster user interface. AtomOS 11 also introduces new features such as EL Zone exposure referenced colorized image, ARRI False Color, and scheduled playback and recording tools. These features are designed to help videographers achieve optimal exposure, color balance, and timing for their shots.
  • The Ninja Ultra is the more advanced model of the two, and it can record up to 8K 30p in ProRes RAW from compatible cameras. The Ninja Ultra also supports camera-to-cloud features via the optional Atomos Connect module, which enables super-fast WiFi 6E connectivity. This allows videographers to upload high-quality H.265 video files to cloud platforms for remote viewing, editing, and collaboration. The Atomos Connect module also enables Atomos RemoteView, a proprietary technology that lets filmmakers share a live view of the Atomos screen with other Atomos monitors and also iPads, Macs, and Apple TVs wirelessly.

How much do the Ninja and Ninja Ultra cost?

The Ninja and Ninja Ultra will be shipping in early September 2023, with a retail price of $599 and $799, respectively. They will be featured at IBC Amsterdam, Booth 11.D25.

The new Ninja recorders are compatible with almost every camera in the world, according to Atomos. They are also backward-compatible with all Atomos and third-party accessories that work with the previous Ninja models.

The new Ninja recorders are expected to be a game-changer for videographers who want to get the most out of their cameras and streamline their workflows. With the ability to record up to 8K ProRes RAW and upload to cloud platforms in real-time, the Ninja and Ninja Ultra offer unparalleled performance and versatility for professional video production.
