The program, announced at the Think Leadership Exchange in Riyadh, is part of IBM’s commitment to developing local talent and supporting Saudi Vision 2030. Himmah, meaning ‘determination,’ will provide Saudi nationals with hands-on experience and theoretical training in various fields, including hybrid cloud, AI, and consulting. This 12-month program is designed to equip participants with the skills and expertise needed to excel in the technology industry and drive the Kingdom’s digital transformation.

Empowering Future Technology Leaders

The Himmah program, launched by IBM, is set to revolutionize the landscape of technology education and training in Saudi Arabia. This initiative is tailored to provide Saudi nationals with comprehensive training in cutting-edge technologies such as hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence. By combining traditional consulting expertise with modern technological skills, IBM aims to create a new generation of professionals who are well-equipped to tackle the challenges of the digital age.

Participants in the Himmah program will undergo a rigorous 12-month training regimen that includes both practical and theoretical components. The program is structured to offer hands-on experience across various fields within IBM Consulting, ensuring that participants gain a holistic understanding of the industry. This approach not only enhances their technical skills but also prepares them for leadership roles in the technology sector.

Khaled Al-Ofaysan, Managing Partner and Country Manager at IBM Consulting Saudi Arabia, expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Saudi candidates to the Himmah program, which embodies our commitment to fostering local talent and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.” The program’s focus on local talent development aligns with the broader goals of Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues.

Comprehensive Training and Development

The Himmah program is designed to provide participants with a well-rounded education in technology and consulting. The initial five-week training period will focus on intensive skill development in specific career paths, including Consultants, Technical Specialists, Designers, Data Scientists, and Developers. This targeted approach ensures that participants receive specialized training that aligns with their career aspirations.

In addition to technical training, the program places a strong emphasis on developing soft skills. Participants will receive guidance on communication, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential for success in the consulting industry. The integration of soft skills training with technical education creates a balanced curriculum that prepares participants for the multifaceted demands of the technology sector.

IBM’s commitment to continuous learning is evident in the resources provided to Himmah participants. They will have access to IBM Consulting Advantage, an AI-powered delivery platform that combines a portfolio of assistants, assets, and methods from IBM and its strategic partners. This platform will support participants in their ongoing development, ensuring they stay ahead of industry trends and innovations.

Supporting Saudi Vision 2030

The launch of the Himmah program is a significant milestone in IBM’s efforts to support Saudi Vision 2030. By investing in local talent development, IBM is contributing to the Kingdom’s goal of creating a knowledge-based economy. The program’s emphasis on advanced technologies and consulting expertise aligns with Vision 2030’s focus on innovation and digital transformation.

Eng. Abdulrahman Althukair, CEO of the Saudi Exports Development Authority, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in achieving the vision’s objectives. He noted that strategic partnerships between public and private sectors are crucial for fostering economic diversification and empowering Saudi products and services. The Himmah program exemplifies this collaborative approach, bringing together IBM’s global expertise and Saudi Arabia’s ambitious development goals.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be placed directly into projects that match their skillsets, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
