Xiaomi is all set to unveil its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, on October 27 in China. The launch date has been leaked by multiple sources, including Xiaomi’s offline store personnel and bloggers. The Xiaomi 14 series will be the first smartphones to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which will be officially announced on October 24.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: The Most Powerful Chipset Yet
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which powers the Xiaomi 13 series and other premium devices. The new chipset is expected to offer significant improvements in performance, efficiency, connectivity, and AI capabilities. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will deliver up to 30% faster CPU performance, up to 30% faster GPU performance, up to 2x faster AI performance, and up to 20% lower power consumption than the previous generation. The chipset will also support Sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5G bands, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB4.
Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro: What to Expect
The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will be the first smartphones to showcase the power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The phones are expected to have some common features, such as:
- A 6.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection
- A triple rear camera setup with Leica-tuned lenses and three different focal lengths: a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera with OIS
- A 32MP selfie camera housed in a punch-hole notch
- A fingerprint scanner embedded in the display
- A stereo speaker system with Dolby Atmos support
- A MIUI 15 skin based on Android 14
The main differences between the two models are expected to be in the battery capacity and charging speed. The Xiaomi 14 is said to have a 4860mAh battery with 67W fast charging support, while the Xiaomi 14 Pro is said to have a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The Xiaomi 14 Pro may also have some exclusive features, such as wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and an under-display selfie camera.
Xiaomi 14 Series: Price and Availability
The Xiaomi 14 series is expected to launch on October 27 in China, followed by a global launch in November. The phones are likely to be available in one variant each: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. The pricing of the phones is not yet confirmed, but some reports suggest that the Xiaomi 14 may cost around Rs.54,999 (~$740), while the Xiaomi 14 Pro may cost around Rs.74,999 (~$1000). The phones are expected to compete with other flagship devices from Samsung, OnePlus, Apple, and others.
