Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport: A Track-Only Beast with 612 HP

Porsche has unveiled a new track-only car for enthusiasts and collectors at the Rennsport Reunion 7 event in California. The Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport is based on the current 992 generation of the 911 GT3 R, but with more power, more aero, and more exclusivity. Only 77 units will be made, each with a price tag of $1.1 million.

A Tribute to Porsche’s Motorsport History

The 911 GT3 R Rennsport is not just a racing car, but also a tribute to Porsche’s motorsport history. The car combines the powerful appearance of a high-performance race car with modern design elements, while also hailing back to iconic models such as the 935 and the 917. The car features a distinctive body design, with a wide and low stance, large air intakes, digital exterior cameras instead of mirrors, and a dominant rear wing reminiscent of the Brumos Porsche 935/77. The car also offers a choice of seven basic colors and three special designs, inspired by famous Porsche liveries.

A High-Revving Naturally Aspirated Engine

The heart of the 911 GT3 R Rennsport is a 4.2-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that produces up to 612 hp, achieving a remarkable 148 hp per liter of displacement. The engine is naturally aspirated, meaning it does not rely on turbochargers or superchargers to boost its power. Instead, it relies on high compression, high revs, and direct fuel injection. The engine can run on E25 fuels, including bio-ethanol fuels and regeneratively produced e-fuels. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters.

A Thoroughbred Racing Car

The 911 GT3 R Rennsport is based on the new 911 GT3 R of the current 992 generation, which is a customer racing car for GT3 series around the world. However, the Rennsport version is designed to perform even beyond the limits imposed by FIA competition rules, making it one of the most extreme and focused 911s ever. The car features a rigid roll cage that accommodates only the driver’s seat, making it a single-seater racing car. The car also features an extensive aerodynamic package, with a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and rear wing that generate high levels of downforce. The car weighs only 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs), thanks to the use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials.

A Limited Edition for Collectors

The 911 GT3 R Rennsport is not intended for public roads or official races, but rather for private track days and exclusive events. The car is limited to only 77 units worldwide, making it a rare and coveted collector’s item. The car costs $1.1 million (excluding taxes), which includes delivery at the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles or Atlanta. The car also comes with a personalized service package, including technical support from Porsche Motorsport engineers and access to exclusive events.
