Pokemon Go Fest 2023, the biggest event of the year for the popular mobile game, was a celebration of rare and shiny Pokemon appearing in abundance for the weekend’s festivities. However, not all shiny Pokemon were easy to find and catch, as some of them proved to be very elusive and challenging. Here are the nine hardest shinies to find at Pokemon Go Fest 2023, according to TheGamer.
Binacle: The Two-Headed Sea Creature
Binacle was one of the featured Pokemon during the Water-themed hours on the first day of Go Fest 2023. However, despite its time in the spotlight, this two-headed sea creature was not very common to come by. Many trainers reported that they got more shiny Marill or other older Water-type shinies instead of Binacle. Moreover, Binacle’s shiny form is not very different from its normal form, making it harder to spot on the map.
Fomantis: The Small Grass-Type
Fomantis was another Pokemon that had a subtle shiny form and a small sprite on the map. This Grass-type Pokemon was often lost under Lapras or beside another green Pokemon like Carnivine. Fomantis spawns were not very frequent either, making it a tough shiny to catch during the Grass-themed hours. Trainers who focused solely on hunting this Pokemon might have had a better chance of finding one, but it was still a rare sight.
Joltik: The Tiny Electric Bug
Joltik was one of the new shiny Pokemon that debuted at Go Fest 2023, along with Goomy, Oranguru, Shellos (both forms), and Unown M. However, Joltik was not easy to find or catch, as it had a very small sprite and a subtle shiny coloring. Joltik’s yellow color sometimes made it difficult to see on the phone screen with a sun glare, adding another obstacle to the hunt. Joltik spawns were also not very abundant, making it one of the rarest shinies from Go Fest 2023.
Wurmple: The Common Caterpillar
Wurmple is a very common Pokemon in Pokemon Go, but its shiny form is not. Wurmple’s shiny form has a pink hue instead of a red one, which is not very noticeable at first glance. Wurmple spawns were also reduced during Go Fest 2023, as other Bug-type Pokemon like Joltik and Foongus took over. Wurmple’s shiny form was first released in January 2020, but it is still one of the most coveted shinies in the game.
Foongus: The Mushroom Pokemon
Foongus is another Bug-type Pokemon that had a new shiny form at Go Fest 2023. Foongus’ shiny form has a blue cap instead of a red one, which is more noticeable than Wurmple’s shiny form. However, Foongus spawns were also not very high during Go Fest 2023, as it had to compete with other Bug-type Pokemon and other habitats. Foongus’ shiny form is also similar to Amoonguss’ normal form, which might cause some confusion for some trainers.
Shellos: The Sea Slug Pokemon
Shellos is a Water-type Pokemon that has two forms based on its location: East Sea and West Sea. Both forms had new shiny forms at Go Fest 2023, which were blue and pink respectively. Shellos spawns were decent during the Water-themed hours, but they were not exclusive to ticket holders. This means that non-ticket holders could also catch them and reduce their availability for ticket holders. Shellos’ shiny forms are also similar to Gastrodon’s normal forms, which might cause some confusion for some trainers.
Pawniard: The Sharp Blade Pokemon
Pawniard is a Dark/Steel-type Pokemon that had a new shiny form at Go Fest 2023. Pawniard’s shiny form has a green body instead of a red one, which is quite noticeable on the map. However, Pawniard spawns were very low during Go Fest 2023, as it was one of the rarest Pokemon in the game. Pawniard only appeared during the Dark-themed hours on the second day of Go Fest 2023, which limited its availability even more.
Heracross: The Single Horn Pokemon
Heracross is a Bug/Fighting-type Pokemon that is normally exclusive to South America and some parts of North America. However, Heracross was available worldwide during Go Fest 2023, along with its new shiny form. Heracross’ shiny form has a pink body instead of a blue one, which is very noticeable on the map. However, Heracross spawns were also very low during Go Fest 2023, as it was one of the rarest regional Pokemon in the game. Heracross only appeared during the Fighting-themed hours on the second day of Go Fest 2023, which limited its availability even more.
Unown: The Symbol Pokemon
Unown is a Psychic-type Pokemon that has 28 forms based on the letters of the alphabet, the question mark, and the exclamation point. Unown M was one of the new shiny Pokemon that debuted at Go Fest 2023, along with Unown G and Unown O. Unown M’s shiny form has a blue body instead of a black one, which is very noticeable on the map. However, Unown M spawns were extremely low during Go Fest 2023, as it was one of the rarest Pokemon in the game. Unown M only appeared to ticket holders during all habitats on both days of Go Fest 2023, which made it very exclusive and elusive.
