GTA 5 Source Code Partially Leaked Online, GTA 6 and Bully 2 Files Also Compromised

In September 2022, Rockstar Games was the victim of a cyberattack that resulted in the theft of some of its confidential data. The hacker claimed to have stolen the source code and assets of GTA 5 and GTA 6, as well as a testing build of GTA 6. The hacker also threatened to release more data if Rockstar Games did not pay a ransom of $10,000 or more.

The hacker posted some screenshots and videos of the GTA 6 testing build on various online platforms, such as Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter. The leaked footage showed some of the features and locations of the upcoming game, such as a futuristic city, a desert, and a snowy mountain. The hacker also claimed that the game would have multiple protagonists, a branching storyline, and a dynamic weather system.

GTA 5 Source Code Partially Leaked

Recently, some parts of the GTA 5 source code were leaked online by an unknown source. The leaked files contained some of the scripting functions and variables of the game, such as the physics, the AI, and the UI. The leaked files also revealed some of the unused content and features that were cut from the final version of the game, such as a zombie mode, a casino heist, and a jetpack.

The leaked source code could potentially allow modders and hackers to create new content and features for the game, or to exploit the game’s vulnerabilities. However, the leaked files did not contain the entire source code of the game, which is estimated to be around 1-2 TB in size. It is unclear if the leaked source code originated from the Rockstar Games hack, or from another source.

GTA 6 and Bully 2 Files Also Compromised

According to some reports, the hacker also managed to steal some of the source code and assets of GTA 6 and Bully 2, two of the most anticipated games from Rockstar Games. Bully 2 is a sequel to the 2006 game Bully, which follows the adventures of a teenage boy in a boarding school. GTA 6 is the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, which is one of the most successful and popular video game franchises of all time.

The hacker has not released any of the GTA 6 and Bully 2 files online, and has stated that they are not selling them at this time. However, the hacker has implied that they might release them in the future, or sell them to the highest bidder. The hacker has also claimed that they have access to other Rockstar Games data, such as employee information, financial records, and legal documents.

Rockstar Games Response

Rockstar Games has not officially commented on the hack or the leaks, but has taken some actions to prevent the spread of the stolen data. The company has issued DMCA takedown notices to the platforms that hosted the leaked files, such as Reddit and YouTube. The company has also contacted some of the users who downloaded or shared the leaked files, and asked them to delete them.

Rockstar Games has also reportedly increased its security measures and hired some cybersecurity experts to investigate the hack and the leaks. The company has also assured its fans that the development of GTA 6 and Bully 2 is not affected by the hack or the leaks, and that the games will be released when they are ready.
