Warzone Fans Rejoice as Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep Make a Comeback

Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale game, has been revamped with a new version called Warzone 2.0. The game went offline temporarily on November 16, 2022, before returning on November 28 with a new map called Caldera. However, many fans were disappointed to see that Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, two of the most beloved maps from the previous version, were no longer available.

But there is good news for those who missed these maps. During the Call of Duty: Next showcase, which was live-streamed on Twitch and YouTube on October 5, 2023, Raven Software senior creative director Ted Timmins announced that both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep would return to Warzone in 2024. He also revealed that Urzikstan, a new map based on the fictional country from Modern Warfare 3, would be the main battle royale map for Season 1.

Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep offer fast-paced and intense gameplay

Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are smaller maps than Caldera, which means they offer more action-packed and frantic gameplay. They are also part of the Resurgence mode, which allows players to respawn after a short time if their teammates are still alive. This mode encourages aggressive play and teamwork, as well as rewarding kills and contracts.

Rebirth Island was the first map to introduce Resurgence mode in Warzone. It was originally a Blackout map from Black Ops IIII, which Treyarch brought back with some changes. The map is set on a Soviet-era prison island, where players have to fight their way through various locations such as the Bioweapon Labs, the Decon Zone, and the Living Quarters.

Fortune’s Keep was the last map to be added to Warzone before it was shut down and replaced by Warzone 2.0. It was developed by High Moon Studios and featured a tropical island with a pirate theme. The map had many unique elements such as zip lines, cannons, treasure chests, and a giant skull cave. It also had dynamic weather effects such as rain and fog.

Urzikstan is the new main map for Modern Warfare 3 fans

Urzikstan is the new large-scale map for Warzone 2.0, which will replace Al Mazrah when Season 1 launches. The map is based on the home country of Farah Karim, one of the main characters from Modern Warfare 3. Urzikstan is located on the border between the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and features 11 points of interest for players to explore.

Some of the notable locations on Urzikstan are:

  • Levin Resort: A luxurious hotel complex with a pool, a spa, and a golf course.
  • Popov Power: A nuclear power plant that has been taken over by terrorists.
  • Zaravan City: A modern urban area with skyscrapers, malls, and a stadium.
  • Shahin Manor: A lavish mansion owned by a wealthy arms dealer.
  • Orlov Military Base: A fortified base with hangars, bunkers, and an airfield.
  • Hadiqa Farms: A rural area with fields, barns, and silos.
  • Zaravan Suburbs: A residential area with houses, apartments, and a school.
  • Old Town: A historic district with mosques, markets, and a museum.
  • Seaport District: A coastal area with docks, warehouses, and a lighthouse.
  • Urzikstan Cargo: A shipping container yard with cranes, trucks, and trains.

Urzikstan will also have some interactive features such as destructible environments, vehicles, traps, and secrets.

Warzone 2.0 offers more variety and content for players

With the addition of Rebirth Island, Fortune’s Keep, and Urzikstan to Warzone 2.0, players will have more options and diversity in their gameplay experience. They will also be able to enjoy new weapons, operators, modes, events, and challenges that will be introduced in each season.

Warzone 2.0 is compatible with Modern Warfare 3 (2023), which is the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise. The game features a new campaign mode that continues the story of Captain Price and his team as they face a new threat from Russia. It also has a revamped multiplayer mode that offers more customization and progression options for players. Additionally, it has a zombies mode that pits players against hordes of undead creatures in various locations.

Warzone 2.0 is available for free on PC (via Battle.net), PlayStation 4/5 (via PSN), Xbox One/Series X/S (via Xbox Live), Nintendo Switch (via eShop), iOS (via App Store), and Android (via Google Play).
