The Finals: Embark Studios Promises to Tackle Cheating Issue Soon

The Finals, the new free-to-play first-person shooter from Embark Studios, has been facing a serious problem with cheaters since its beta launch. The developers have acknowledged the issue and assured the players that a fix is coming soon.

The Finals is a fast-paced shooter that features destructible environments, customizable loadouts, and squad-based gameplay. The game has been praised for its innovative mechanics, stunning graphics, and smooth performance. However, not everything is perfect in the world of The Finals.

Many players have reported encountering cheaters who use hacks such as aimbots, wallhacks, and infinite RPGs to gain an unfair advantage over their opponents. These cheaters often have Chinese names or characters, leading some players to suspect that they are from China, a region known for its high prevalence of cheating in online games.

Cheaters can ruin the fun and competitiveness of any game, especially one that relies on skill and teamwork. Players have expressed their frustration and anger on social media platforms such as Reddit, Twitter, and Discord, demanding that Embark Studios take action against the cheaters and implement better anti-cheat measures.

Embark Studios responds to the complaints

Embark Studios, the developer of The Finals, has not been silent on the cheating issue. The studio has been actively working on improving the situation and communicating with the players through the game’s official Discord server.

On Dec. 20, 2023, the studio posted a message on the Discord server, stating that they are aware of the cheating problem and that they are working on a fix that will be released soon. The message also asked the players to report any cheaters they encounter through the in-game report system or the player support form on the game’s website.

The message read:

Hi everyone,
We are aware of the recent increase in cheating instances. We’re actively working on improving the situation – as you may know, anti-cheat is a never-ending battle.
We have a fix coming soon that should help with the situation. In the meantime, please continue to report any cheaters you encounter through the in-game report system or the player support form here: The Finals Player Support.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your feedback and support.

Players remain skeptical but hopeful

The response from Embark Studios was met with mixed reactions from the players. Some players appreciated the studio’s efforts and transparency, while others remained skeptical and doubtful about the effectiveness of the fix. Some players also suggested that the studio should region-lock China or implement a two-factor authentication system to prevent cheaters from creating multiple accounts.

One player commented on Reddit:

I’m glad they are working on it, but I hope it’s not too late. Cheaters can kill a game’s reputation and player base very quickly. I love this game, but I don’t want to play with cheaters every other match.

Another player commented on Discord:

Thank you for the update. I hope the fix works and that you will ban the cheaters permanently. This game is amazing and deserves better.

The Finals is still in its early stages of development and has a lot of potential to become one of the best shooters of 2023. The game is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is expected to receive more updates and features in the future, such as new maps, modes, weapons, and cosmetics.

The cheating issue is a major challenge for Embark Studios, but it is not an insurmountable one. The studio has shown that it is committed to improving the game and listening to the players. Hopefully, the fix will be effective and the game will be free of cheaters soon.
