Nawaz Sharif meets Saudi embassy officials in Lahore

Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), received a delegation of the Saudi embassy at his residence in Jati Umra, Lahore, on Sunday. The delegation, led by the Saudi charge d’affaires, exchanged views with Nawaz Sharif on various matters of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, regional developments, and economic cooperation.

Nawaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its consistent support to Pakistan in difficult times, and praised the Kingdom’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. He also highlighted the historical and fraternal ties between the two countries, and the strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples.

Saudi Arabia reaffirms its commitment to Pakistan’s economic stability

The Saudi delegation conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Saudi leadership to Nawaz Sharif, and appreciated his role in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. The delegation also assured Nawaz Sharif that Saudi Arabia stands with Pakistan for its economic stability and prosperity, and will continue to extend its assistance and cooperation in various fields.

The delegation also briefed Nawaz Sharif on the latest developments in Saudi Arabia, especially the Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the Saudi economy and enhance its global competitiveness. The delegation invited Nawaz Sharif to visit Saudi Arabia and witness the progress and achievements of the Kingdom.

Nawaz Sharif recovers from illness and resumes political activities

Nawaz Sharif, who has been living in London since November 2019 on medical grounds, returned to Pakistan in January 2024, after the Islamabad High Court granted him bail in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption case. Nawaz Sharif, who suffers from a heart condition and diabetes, underwent several medical tests and treatments in London, and recovered from his illness.

Since his return, Nawaz Sharif has resumed his political activities and met with various leaders and workers of his party, as well as other opposition parties. He has also addressed several public rallies and media conferences, and criticized the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan for its poor performance and policies.
