Loki Season 2 Arrives Early on Disney Plus: What to Expect

Marvel fans, rejoice! Loki Season 2 is coming to Disney Plus sooner than expected. The second season of the hit series, starring Tom Hiddleston as the charismatic trickster, will premiere on October 5, a day earlier than the original date of October 6. This means that US viewers will be able to enjoy Loki Thursdays, while UK and Australian fans will have to catch up on Fridays.

Loki Season 2 will continue the story of the God of Mischief as he tries to navigate the multiverse and his own identity. The first season ended with a shocking twist, as Loki and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), another Loki variant, encountered a Kang variant (Jonathan Majors) at the end of time. Sylvie killed Kang, unleashing a wave of chaos and creating multiple timelines. Loki returned to the TVA (Time Variance Authority), only to find out that no one recognized him and that Kang’s statue had replaced the Time-Keepers.

What Will Happen in Loki Season 2?

The official plot details for Loki Season 2 are still under wraps, but we can expect some exciting developments and surprises. In a featurette released by Marvel Studios, the cast and crew teased some hints about what’s in store for Loki and his new allies.

“Season 2 is about Loki understanding himself,” Hiddleston said. “He’s found a new family. There’s a new capacity of making connections. He realizes those connections are all that matter in the end.”

Hiddleston will be joined by Owen Wilson as Mobius, a TVA agent who befriended Loki in the first season, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, a TVA judge who has a mysterious past with Kang. We can also expect to see more of Di Martino as Sylvie, who may have some regrets about her actions in the finale.

Majors will reprise his role as Kang, or at least one of his variants, who is set to be the main villain of the MCU’s Phase Four. Kang is a powerful conqueror who can manipulate time and travel across realities. He has already been confirmed to appear in Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania, which will be released in February 2024
