iOS 17 update for iPhone will keep your loved ones safe with Check In mode

Apple’s latest iOS 17 update has introduced a new feature that allows users to share their location, battery, and signal status with their friends and family. The feature, called Check In, is designed to help users stay connected and safe in case of emergencies or unexpected situations.

How Check In works

Check In is a feature that is available in the Messages app on iPhones running iOS 17. Users can send a Check In to a contact or a group of contacts, and specify when and where they are expected to arrive. The feature will automatically detect the user’s arrival and send a notification to the recipients with the user’s current information.

Users can also customize what information they want to share if their Check In is not successful. For example, users can choose to share their route, network signal, and battery level of their iPhone and Apple Watch. This can help the recipients to locate the user or contact emergency services if needed.

How to send a Check In

To send a Check In, users need to follow these steps:

  • Open the Messages app and select a contact or a group of contacts.
  • Tap on the plus button and then tap on More.
  • Tap on the Check In button and edit the options according to your preferences.
  • Fill in the When I Arrive and Time fields, and select the details you want to share if your Check In is not successful.
  • Tap on Send.

The recipients will receive a message with your Check In details, and they can tap on it to see more information. They can also reply to your Check In with messages or emojis.

How to customize your data sharing information

Users can also change the default settings for their data sharing information in case their Check In does not go as planned. To do this, users need to follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings and navigate to Messages.
  • Tap on Check In Data at the bottom of the page.
  • Select the details you want to share if your Check In does not go as anticipated.

Why Check In is useful

Check In is a useful feature that can help users stay in touch with their loved ones and ensure their safety. Users can use Check In for various scenarios, such as:
