GTA VI Release Window Hinted by Take-Two Interactive CEO

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive, has hinted at the possible release window of the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI game. In a recent interview with CNBC, Zelnick was asked about the release date of GTA VI, to which he replied, “We leave the announcement of upcoming titles to our labels and we have said we have a very robust pipeline of titles and we have a great outlook for fiscal 2025 where we’ve reiterated our belief that we’ll generate about $8 billion in net bookings.”

This answer suggests that GTA VI is one of the few Rockstar titles that could generate such a huge amount of revenue in a single fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. Moreover, Rockstar Games has a tendency to release their AAA games in the fall season, as seen with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Therefore, fans can expect GTA VI to launch sometime between October and December 2024.

GTA VI is the most awaited game in the industry

GTA VI is arguably the most awaited game in the industry, as fans have been eagerly waiting for a new installment in the popular open-world crime series since GTA V came out in 2013. GTA V is one of the best-selling games of all time, with over 150 million copies sold worldwide. It has also received multiple updates and expansions, including GTA Online, which is still going strong with millions of players and regular content updates.

However, fans are hungry for a new GTA experience, especially with the advent of next-generation consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. GTA VI is expected to feature a massive map, realistic graphics, immersive gameplay, and a compelling story. Some rumors have suggested that GTA VI will be set in Vice City, a fictional version of Miami, and will span multiple decades and locations. However, Rockstar Games has not confirmed or denied any of these speculations.

Take-Two Interactive has a robust pipeline of titles

While GTA VI is undoubtedly the most anticipated title from Take-Two Interactive, it is not the only one. The publisher has a robust pipeline of titles from its various labels and studios, including Rockstar Games, 2K Games, Private Division, and Social Point. Some of these titles include NBA 2K24, WWE 2K24, Bioshock 4, Kerbal Space Program 2, and more.

Take-Two Interactive has also been investing in new technologies and acquisitions to expand its portfolio and reach. For instance, it recently acquired mobile game developer Zynga for $12.7 billion US dollars, making it one of the largest deals in the gaming industry. It also acquired Dynamixyz, a leader in facial animation technology, and Nordeus, a developer of soccer games. Additionally, it has been experimenting with cloud gaming and blockchain technology to create new opportunities for growth.
