GTA 6 announcement leaker faces backlash from fans

A Twitter user who claimed to have insider information about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) game has faced ridicule and backlash from fans after their prediction turned out to be false. The user, who goes by the name of @GTA6Leaks, had posted a tweet in March 2023, saying that Rockstar Games would reveal GTA 6 in September 2023, and also give a release date of Fall 2024. However, September came and went without any official announcement from Rockstar, and fans were left disappointed and angry.

A mockery on Reddit

The tweet was shared on Reddit by a user named Quick_Difference5671, who sarcastically commented, “This aged like fine wine” and added that the Twitter user has since changed their mind and said they are “betting for October.” Other Reddit users joined in on the mockery, making their own jokes about when GTA 6 will be announced, and accusing the leaker of making up rumors for attention. Some of the comments were:

  • “GTA 6 will be announced on a day in the future”
  • “Bro is a professional bs spewer. Blocked me when I called him out on numerous Spider-Man 2 leaks being wrong.”
  • “I’ve seen that guy’s other posts, he’s a fraud.”

A threat from fans

The Twitter user did not take the criticism well, and posted another tweet saying that they have received death threats from some GTA fans who were unhappy with their false prediction. They also defended themselves by saying that they were only sharing what they heard from their sources, and that things could have changed since then. They also claimed that they have been right about other games in the past, such as Payday 3 and Fable.

However, this did not appease the fans, who continued to mock and harass the leaker online. Some of them even reported the account to Twitter for spreading false information and violating the terms of service.

A silence from Rockstar

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games has remained silent about GTA 6, and has not given any official confirmation or denial about the game’s development or release date. The studio has been focusing on other projects, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA Trilogy, and GTA+. Rockstar is giving away copies of the GTA Trilogy for free to GTA+ subscribers.

Fans are eagerly waiting for any news about GTA 6, which is expected to be a massive open-world game with stunning graphics and gameplay. Some of the rumors suggest that the game will be set in multiple locations, such as Vice City, Liberty City, and South America, and will feature both male and female protagonists.
