Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has announced the release of a new addition to its G-SHOCK family of shock-resistant watches. The new MUDMASTER GWG-B1000 is designed for use in harsh environments, such as sandy or muddy terrains. It features a rugged metal exterior, a triple sensor, and a smartphone link function.
The GWG-B1000 is the first G-SHOCK watch to have exterior components made of metal, such as the bezel, the button guard, and the protector parts. These parts enhance the durability and toughness of the watch, as well as its aesthetic appeal. The protector parts at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions are treated with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, which provides abrasion resistance and a matte black finish. The bezel and the button guard are forged and molded using different techniques, such as metal injection molding (MIM), to achieve complex shapes in metal.
The watch also retains the signature shock resistance of G-SHOCK, thanks to its carbon fiber reinforced resin case and sapphire crystal glass. The watch is dust- and mud-resistant, as well as water-resistant up to 200 meters. The watch has a multi-dimensional design, with large hour markers and hands that are coated with fluorescent material for visibility in the dark.
A Triple Sensor and a Smartphone Link for Enhanced Functionality
The GWG-B1000 is equipped with a triple sensor that measures compass bearing, altitude/barometric pressure, and temperature. These measurements can be displayed on the inset dial indicator hand, which can also point to a location recorded on the map within the smartphone app. The watch also has solar charging and radio wave reception functions, which ensure accurate timekeeping and battery efficiency.
The watch can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth, which enables access to various useful features on the dedicated app. For example, the Location Indicator feature can show the direction of a destination on the watch’s inset dial indicator hand, while the Mission Log feature can record the activity history of the user. The app also allows users to adjust the settings of the watch, such as the time zone, alarm, and countdown timer.
A Variety of Color Options and Availability
The GWG-B1000 comes in three color options: black (GWG-B1000-1A), red (GWG-B1000-1A4), and green (GWG-B1000-3A). The black and red models have resin bands, while the green model has a cloth band. The watch will be available from October 2023 at select G-SHOCK retailers worldwide.
