Three Israeli Universities Among World’s Top 100

Three Israeli universities have been ranked among the world’s top 100 academic institutions, according to the 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) released on Tuesday by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. This is the first time since 2013 that three Israeli universities have made it to the top 100 list, which is considered one of the most prestigious and influential rankings of higher education in the world.

Weizmann Institute of Science

The Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot has climbed to the 67th place from the 83rd last year, making it the highest-ranked Israeli university on the list. The Weizmann Institute is a multidisciplinary research institution that focuses on natural and exact sciences, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science. The institute has produced four Nobel laureates and three Turing Award winners, as well as many other distinguished scientists and innovators. Technion – Israel Institute of Technology

The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa has placed 78th on the list, up from the 94th in 2021 and the 83rd in 2022. The Technion is Israel’s oldest university and a global leader in science and engineering education and research. The Technion has produced three Nobel laureates and one Turing Award winner, as well as many entrepreneurs and inventors who have shaped the fields of high-tech, biotech, aerospace, and nanotechnology. The Technion is also ranked fourth among European technological universities, according to the ARWU.

Hebrew University of Jerusalem

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has ranked 85th on the list, down from the 77th in 2022. The Hebrew University is Israel’s second-oldest university and a comprehensive research institution that covers a wide range of disciplines, from humanities and social sciences to law and medicine. The Hebrew University has produced eight Nobel laureates and one Fields Medalist, as well as many prominent scholars and leaders in various fields. The University of Haifa has ranked in the top 500 bracket.
