Vietnamese Embassy Urges Citizens in Israel to Follow Updated Safety Guidance

In a tense development amid ongoing Middle East conflict, the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel has urgently called on Vietnamese nationals living, working, and studying in the country to follow updated civil defence guidance issued by the Israeli Home Front Command. The alert comes as Israel adjusts national safety measures affecting daily life across multiple cities and regions. The embassy says comprehensive safety precautions are essential to protect the community amid shifting risk levels.

Civil Defence Measures Adjusted Across Israel

Vietnamese authorities in Israel warned that current civil defence measures in the country will continue until early morning March 16 and may remain in force based on local threat levels. The Israeli Home Front Command has classified the entire country as being under “limited activity” status, meaning regular life disruptions are ongoing.

Under this status:

  • Educational activities are paused nationwide. Schools and educational institutions have suspended operations.

  • Public gatherings and workplaces are allowed only where proper bomb shelter access exists. This means many indoor and outdoor activities remain restricted.

  • Movement between cities and regions is discouraged. Residents are asked to stay alert and remain close to shelter facilities if warnings are issued.

From 6:00am on March 16 onwards, restrictions will vary by area. Several northern and central cities, such as Haifa, Acre, Safed, Tiberias, Nazareth, Tel Aviv, Netanya, Herzliya, and Jerusalem, are expected to remain under strict measures with educational activities still halted.

In parts of southern Israel, including Eilat, Arad, Dimona, Be’er Sheva, the Arava region, and the southern Negev, schools and daily activities may gradually resume, provided that residents have access to civil defence shelters.

Embassy Advice to Vietnamese Citizens

The Vietnamese Embassy’s alert highlights the importance of strict compliance with all official safety instructions issued by Israeli authorities. The embassy has emphasized proactive personal safety planning as critical in the current environment.

Among the key recommendations:

  • Follow guidance from the Israeli Home Front Command at all times. The embassy stresses that official alerts and regulations are the most reliable source of safety information.

  • Remain near designated shelters and know evacuation routes. Being familiar with the nearest safe location can reduce risk during sudden alerts.

  • Avoid non-essential travel and public gatherings. This minimizes exposure to possible threats.

  • Keep documentation, contacts, and emergency supplies ready. Reliable supplies and communication tools can make a difference during prolonged alerts or interruptions in services.

The embassy added that it will continue monitoring developments closely and updating the community with new guidance as the situation evolves.

Current Safety Status of Vietnamese Community

So far, the Vietnamese Embassy has reported no known casualties or property damage involving Vietnamese nationals in Israel. This suggests that community members have largely remained safe while responding to precautionary measures.

This information reflects the latest official updates provided as of March 15 and early March 16. However, given rapidly changing conditions, the embassy has urged continued caution.

Broader Regional Risk and Travel Disruptions

The embassy notice comes amid broader travel disruptions and security challenges across the Middle East due to escalating conflict and military activity involving Israel and neighbouring countries. Several major airlines have suspended flights to and from the region, and airspace closures have affected international travel routes.

Travel advisories from other countries have also urged their citizens in Israel and the surrounding region to comply with local safety directives and consider sheltering in place or leaving via commercial means where possible.

In this climate, embassies are working to keep foreign nationals informed, including encouraging registration with local diplomatic missions so alerts and assistance can be delivered rapidly if necessary.

Advice for Vietnamese Nationals Abroad

Vietnamese living abroad amid regional tensions should consider basic emergency preparedness steps:

  • Stay in touch with the embassy. Official communication channels offer the most reliable updates.

  • Check alerts frequently. Local authority warnings can change rapidly.

  • Have a personal safety plan. This includes knowing shelter locations and having essential supplies ready.

  • Avoid non-essential movements. Staying close to secure locations minimizes risk.

These practical steps support individuals and families in navigating crisis situations with greater confidence and readiness.

Vietnamese citizens in Israel and across the Middle East are encouraged to follow all official guidance, remain vigilant, and seek assistance from the embassy where needed to ensure their safety.
