Samsung is reportedly working on a new entry-level smartphone, the Galaxy A05, which could be launched soon in some markets. The device has been spotted on various certification platforms and online listings, revealing its design and specifications. Here is what we know so far about the upcoming Galaxy A05.
The Galaxy A05 will have a 6.7-inch HD+ screen with an Infinity-U notch, according to leaked promo images. The phone will have a plastic back with a striped pattern and a dual-camera setup. The fingerprint sensor will be embedded in the power button on the right side of the device. The phone will also feature a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port at the bottom.
The phone will be available in three color options: Black, Light Green/Mint, and Silver. The promo images also show some of the features of the phone, such as Samsung Pay, Dolby Atmos, and Knox security.
Galaxy A05 performance and software
The Galaxy A05 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which has eight CPU cores and a Mali-G52 GPU. The phone will come with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, along with a dedicated microSD card slot for expansion. The phone will run Android 13 out of the box, with One UI 5.x on top.
The Helio G85 processor is a significant upgrade over the Helio P35 processor that was used in the Galaxy A04. The Helio G85 has two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, while the Helio P35 only has eight Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.3GHz. The Mali-G52 GPU is also more powerful than the PowerVR GE8320 GPU used in the Galaxy A04.
Galaxy A05 camera and battery
The Galaxy A05 will have a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth camera. The phone will also have an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The phone will be able to record Full HD videos at 30fps using both front and rear cameras.
The phone will have a large 5,000mAh battery that will support 25W fast charging, according to the latest leak. This is an improvement over the previous rumor that suggested 15W fast charging for the device. The Galaxy A04 also had a 5,000mAh battery, but it only supported 10W charging.
Galaxy A05 launch date and price
The Galaxy A05 has been certified by Anatel in Brazil and Google Play Console, indicating that it could be launched soon. The phone is expected to be released in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia initially, followed by other regions later. The price of the phone is not known yet, but it could be similar to or lower than the Galaxy A04, which was launched at $149.
The Galaxy A05 seems to be a decent budget-friendly smartphone that offers a big screen, fast performance, long battery life, and fast charging. It could compete with other entry-level devices from brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola, and Nokia.
