Woman’s Vegetarian Eggs Go Viral, Netizens React With Mixed Emotions

A video of a woman making vegetarian eggs from lentils, paneer and spices has sparked a lot of reactions on the internet. Some people were amazed by the creativity and innovation, while others were appalled and disgusted by the idea of fake eggs.

How to make vegetarian eggs?

The video was posted by Sunita Sahu on Instagram, who claimed to be a vegetarian and wanted to try something new. She showed the step-by-step process of making vegetarian eggs, which looked quite similar to the real ones.

She started by grinding chana dal and adding peri-peri masala, Maggi masala, oil, water and turmeric. She then formed small balls from this mixture to create the “egg yolk”. Next, she took malai, ground it and added cornstarch and rock salt to make a creamy blend. She then placed the yolk into this mixture and shaped it like an egg. She boiled the eggs in water with some rock salt for about five minutes.

She then prepared a curry with cumin, onion, garlic, ginger, chilli paste, tomato puree and various spices. She sliced the boiled eggs in half and added them to the curry. She garnished the dish with coriander leaves and served it hot.

What did the internet say?

The video has gone viral on social media, with more than 12 million views and thousands of comments. Many people were impressed by the woman’s creativity and praised her for making a vegetarian version of a popular dish. Some even expressed their curiosity and willingness to try it out.

However, not everyone was impressed by the vegetarian eggs. Some people found the idea of fake eggs disgusting and unnatural. They questioned the need to imitate a non-vegetarian food when there are so many vegetarian options available. They also mocked the woman for using chicken masala in her curry and suggested that she should make non-vegetarian baingan ka bharta next.

Some people also pointed out the health risks of consuming too much paneer and cornstarch, which are high in fat and calories. They advised the woman to eat real eggs instead, which are rich in protein and other nutrients.

Why are vegetarian eggs controversial?

The concept of vegetarian eggs is not new, as there are many alternatives available in the market that mimic the taste and texture of real eggs. These products are usually made from plant-based ingredients such as soy, pea protein, algae or mung beans. They are often marketed as vegan, cruelty-free and environmentally friendly options.

However, these products also face a lot of criticism and controversy from various quarters. Some people argue that these products are misleading and deceptive, as they use terms like “egg” or “chicken” that imply animal origin. They claim that these products violate the consumer’s right to know what they are eating and may cause confusion or allergy issues.

Some people also oppose these products on ethical grounds, as they believe that they promote a culture of imitation and appropriation. They argue that these products disrespect the original food cultures and traditions that they are derived from. They also question the need to replicate animal products when there are plenty of plant-based foods that are delicious and nutritious in their own right.

What is your opinion?

Vegetarian eggs are a divisive topic that elicit strong emotions from both sides of the debate. Some people see them as a creative and innovative way to enjoy a familiar dish without harming animals or the environment. Others see them as a disgusting and unnatural way to imitate a non-vegetarian food without respecting its origin or value.
